We drove an hour to get here for lunch, purchase wine for an event and scout the venue as the website says open 12-12. Not true. We showed up 3:45 and the women said the kitchen was closed.. I replied okay can we still have wine? She had to check….
We asked perhaps at least some bread, olives or cheese so we can have more than one glass as we have an hour drive home. She said no sorry & we left. Such a bummer as we’re planning on tasting the wine and making a big wine purchase for a 150+ person party we are hosting for my husband’s bday in March in Ericieria. What a huge disappointment of a wasted afternoon and a true example of the outcome of a staffs poor customer service. The winery owners should be mortified and really teach their employees about service if they want sales and happy returning local customers to support their name.
Would taking time to make an exception and provide cheese, olives and bread upon request have killed the staff who clearly prefers to just stand around on payroll and do nothing & then away business.
I bring tours here to Portugal and was checking out this place to bring 30 tourists back for dinner and tasting in April. This minimal effort of ensuring good customer service just lost this winery much...
Read moreThis was supposed to be a 5 star experience but sadly it wasn’t. We were not allowed to do the wine and food pairing even though that was what I requested in my email 2 months prior to our visit. When I looked back, they did confirm a la carte so shame on me for not noticing. The food was ok, some things better than others but my fish was smelly so much that I couldn’t eat it. They were also out of several things (not mentioned when given the menus) that we wanted to order and we were the 1st table of the evening. The real issue came when the server said she was going to bring us some dessert wine and we all assumed it was complimentary due to the prior issues. When we got the bill- the 4 glasses were there and cost more than the two BOTTLES we had ordered with dinner!! I tried to have them removed but the server was no where to be found. I tried for a week after to discuss this privately with the restaurant but my attempts went ignored so as a last resort, I’m sharing publicly. As we all know, mistakes and misunderstandings happen but how they are handled is what sets you apart. Would not recommend this restaurant when there are better options available. Such a shame as we had all looked forward to...
Read moreI had high expectations and wasn't disappointed! We were a large group in a family celebration, had pre-organized all the food with the staff so everything would go smoothly. The staff and service was excellent. The starters were amazing, and I would have to recommend the Gambas and the Choco. From the food, I tried the polvo, the vitela, the bife a portuguesa and the arroz malandrinho com bochechas de bacalhau, All excellent, but the arroz malandrinho was exquisite! I already knew the wine, so wasn´t surprised by how good it was. Finally the deserts were also very good. All in all, the portuguese food shines in main courses well presented and in proportions that allow you to enjoy the food! No minimalist nonsense! All in a stunning vineyard...
