Restaurante O Banheiro — Restaurant in Vila do Conde

I had just completed my first day on the Camino when I found Restaurante O Banheiro. Lunch was in order at this point, and I had the most amazing vegetable soup and a glass of white wine, and lots of water:) Baha, from Indonesia, was my server and he was delightful. I had such a good experience for lunch that I decided that I would return for dinner. Baha greeted me saying that they were in the process of closing, but would be happy for me stay for dinner. What else would you order when sitting by the sea but fish. My choice was a whole fish, which was accompanied by potatoes and vegetables. Während unseres Caminos haben wir im Restaurante O Banheiro jeweils ein Getränk und ein Thunfisch-Sandwich gegessen. Das Wichtigste zuerst: die Lage ist einfach traumhaft – das Restaurant sitzt direkt am Ozean und die Aussicht auf Meer und Küste macht den Aufenthalt sofort besonders.

Das Thunfisch-Sandwich war nicht spektakulär, aber durchaus zufriedenstellend: eher schlicht gehalten, trotzdem schmackhaft und solide zubereitet. Es ist genau das richtige für eine kurze, unkomplizierte Stärkung — kein Fine Dining, sondern ehrliches, gut essbares Essen. Die Getränke waren in Ordnung und rundeten die kleine Pause angenehm ab.

Preislich gehört das Lokal eher ins Mittelfeld: für das, was man bekommt, ist es nicht günstig, aber auch nicht überteuert. Man zahlt eindeutig etwas für die fantastische Lage und die Aussicht — was ehrlich gesagt völlig in Ordnung ist, wenn man genau deshalb dorthin geht.

Das Ambiente passt zur Lage: entspannt, ungezwungen und ideal für eine kleine Rast nach einem langen Spaziergang oder als Zwischenstopp auf dem Camino. Wer eine gemütliche Pause mit Meerblick sucht und keinen großen Wert auf raffinierte Küche legt, wird hier glücklich sein.

Fazit: Restaurante O Banheiro ist ein wunderbarer Ort für eine kurze Auszeit am Ozean. Kein kulinarisches Highlight, aber eine sehr schöne, lohnende Erfahrung dank der Lage und der entspannten Atmosphäre — besonders empfehlenswert, wenn man die Aussicht...

We spent a long weekend in Labruge and ate here twice. The second time our group of 7 essentially ordered a massive surf and turf, with two massive tomahawk steaks and loads of seafood. We ate like kings and the waitress (who remembered us from the previous visit) was funny, playful and a great hostess.

This place was a great place to camp and enjoy a couple of superbocks, accommodating a reasonably large group and food was excellent.
