Ar d'Mar — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

I am a regular to this cafe on the beach, perhaps 1-3 time per week for breakfast. It for sure is the best quality to price ratio in Porto and Gaia that I have discovered in my years. Some servers are super great too…

But I came to an empty restaurant this morning, sat inside near the window which was all free without signs indicating reservations. I’m usually in and out in 30 minutes… a waiter tells me I cannot sit there as the tables are reserved and to move to another completely empty spot with no view… instead of signposting on the table, enquiring what I will have and informing me of the arrival time of reservations so that I know to be out by a certain time or to chose an alternative spot.

The service was extremely terrible and rude. The waiter said “from now on don’t ask me, ask my colleague there”.. they didn’t serve our table for almost the first 20 minutes and we were a big group.
