Sinfonia Amarela — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

When you see this "restaurant" from the outside, you can see a sign with various types of pizzas they offer. You sit down and wait for the waiter to come. When he finally comes, he is kind of shocked about the fact that as a non-portuguesse customer, you can only communicate in english. Then you try to ask for the pizza menu, and you say it very clearly, but his english skills are only at the level of saying "what?" multiple times. After you somehow manage to ask for it, he brings it, however, the menu lacks the prices. After you choose the pizzas you want, you wait for him to notice you again. Then he comes and you ask him about the prices of pizzas, but he is not really sure, so he repeats the only word he knows- "what?". Then he somehow says that the price is 8,something per 1 pizza. Since vegetarian person is part of your group, you ask to put ham only to half of each pizza. His response, istead of "what" is surprisingly "not possible". So in your head you think like "what the actual f$$k?". Still you order anyway and wait for pizzas to come. When it finally arrives, you get this Dr. Oetker's frozen, half-burnt s$$t at it's finest! Avoid this place! They will overcharge you for the worst excuse for "food" in Portugal and not only massively overcharge you for it, but your server may well do a slight of hand with your cash to steal from you, too. They only had two dishes available, cod and "meat," and she couldn't even say what kind of meat it was in either English or Portuguese (which I speak well enough as a resident here for over a year), which I guess is because there was no actual meat, only nasty tasting pork skin speckled with pig hair stretched over bones. But to add insult to injury, two of these "meat" plates and two Super Bocks came to €29, an outrageous sum here, and when my wife laid down €30 and glanced away thinking our awful business transaction was concluded, the waitress pointed to a €10 and a €5 on the table (the €20 having suddenly disappeared) and then proceeded to point to the €29 on the receipt as though we were idiots who can't count money. There are thousands of delicious and honest restaurants around here, so I beg you to go to literally any of those and allow this one to collapse under the weight of their...

The location is awesome and this is only one strong point of the cafe. Personal is also most likely friendly but really not professional. We've ordered several times a Porto Wine and they always gave it in a different types of the glass, every time different types of wine - marks, colour and even didn't ask about that. The first time the lady even put at the same glass rest of the old bottle and then finish it with another bottle and mark.... For my comment I've received only the answer "they all are porto wine"... So I thin even for Portuguese and local citizens it is weird to do like this with wine. It was cold season, they have gas heaters inside, but don't use them when we come.

Something optimistic - they have space inside and outside so you can spend your time depending on the weather... and generally they are good people. If you come just to drink coffee or some bottled beer...
