Taberna da Villa | GAIA — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

Taberna da Villa is a very cozy place, hidden from the rest of Porto's and Gaia's confusion. The staff are all very kind, but what makes this place a delight is the food. A good variety of it but, most of all, very tasty. All beef-based dishes I was able to try (we were four people and had three different dishes) were very well served and full of flavour. Nous sommes arrivés à 13h10 un dimanche, sans avoir réservé. Le restaurant était plein, on nous a annoncé 30 minutes d'attente, nous avons accepté et avons donc été dirigés vers le jardin et ses tables et bancs en pierre à l'ombre des vignes. Un endroit agréable pour patienter. L'attente annoncée a été respectée.

Une planche de charcuterie et de fromage nous attendait à notre table. Chose habituelle au Portugal, vous avez quasiment toujours quelque chose à grignoter sur votre table sans que vous n'ayez demandé quoi que ce soit. Si vous n'en voulez pas, signalez-le afin de le retirer de votre note. En ce qui nous concerne, nous avons fait retirer de l'addition les olives présentes dans la corbeille à pain que nous n'avions pas touchées. La planche à 7.50 € en revanche était excellente, de bon produits.

Nous avons ensuite choisi une planche de tapas pour 35 €, parfaite pour 2 personnes, composée de poulpe, gambas, tortilla espagnole, petits piments, beignets de fruits de mer... Tout était savoureux, nous n'avons rien laissé. Après cette planche copieuse, nous nous sommes laissés tenter par un dessert : un "cheesecake de morango" à 4.50 € (cheesecake à la fraise) et un "doce de natas com ovos moles" à 4.80 €, un dessert que j'ai plutôt l'habitude de manger servi en coupe. Ici, j'ai eu une portion généreuse servie à l'assiette. C'était absolument délicieux, onctueux et gourmand, même si je n'ai pas réussi à le finir, mon estomac étant rassasié. Nous avons fini par un bon petit café.

Un excellent repas, une adresse à retenir. La réservation semble indispensable pour éviter...

We got the Nacos and the portion for 2 was really generous, the meat was lovely cooked, perfect medium rare on the inside. The fries are better than most places for sure. The chamuças with apple puree seemed like a weird pairing at first but it was actually really good. Not sweet
