Zephyr Playa — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

We had an incredible experience at Zephyr Playa, and it’s safe to say it exceeded all expectations. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between relaxed and refined, making it the ideal spot to unwind while enjoying top-notch cuisine by the sea.

But what truly set our visit apart was the exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after by Tarcísio, who was an absolute star. He served us throughout the day with the warmest smile and genuine hospitality that made us feel incredibly welcome. His attentiveness, friendly demeanor, and constant professionalism made a lasting impression and added so much to our overall experience.

Later in the evening, João took over during dinner service, and he was equally outstanding. João was attentive, courteous, and ensured every detail was taken care of without ever being intrusive. His knowledge of the menu and thoughtful recommendations made our dinner even more enjoyable.

Both Tarcísio and João made us feel like more than just guests – they made us feel valued. Their dedication to great service truly reflects the heart of Zephyr Playa, and we can’t thank them enough.

Very beautiful and instagramable obviously. Service was so so, waiters acted surprised as if we were supposed to book, even though there were plenty of tables both inside and outside. Ordering and receiving food was ok but definitely not tip worthy. Sitting in the outside terrace super uncomfortable… With basically pillows on the floor, so no back support, also no shade on the hot summer day, which for those that didn’t plan to be burning in the sun for couple hrs might not be enjoyable. Music very mellow and calm, definitely not to lift you up. We had Aperols which just simply by looking at were not right, the colour was so pale you know it’s not proper. Tasted super watery and weak. We had snacks like board of dips with some pita bread and some fries, which were decent. Also, you are not allowed to smoke, not Iqos, not cigarettes, so be aware! Was a bit of a downer for me as everywhere in Porto/Portugal you can smoke in open spaces. Price wise ofc overpriced but you pay for the “vibe” and potential nice pics. With one platter and some fries + 2 Aperols we paid ~€40 (only those knowing Porto and beach club prices here would understand its above average) Would not return as in same strip of beach you have much better options price performance wise. If you want to spend time in a nice bar by the ocean, choose something else. The service is just disgusting. When booking it was stated by me that we would be there with a little child. At the same time we were seated in the sun where the table is below the level of the chairs and to eat, you have to bend in three legs. We didn't know how to get out of the sun. The weekend was just ruined. When I asked the waitress to move us, she just waved her hands in the air. Shouldn't you have checked in advance that people would come with a child? Then their manager (I guess) noticed that something was wrong. He asked me. I explained the situation. He set up a seat at a free table in the shade just as we were about to leave and had eaten everything. And you know how he solved the situation: he apologised! That's total unprofessionalism.
