A Ponte do Encherrique — Restaurant in Vila Velha de Ródão

I went here during a busy lunchtime service, I was shown to a table,and given the menu straight away, after perusing, thought I would give the menu of the day a go. Bread basket and garlic olives were immediately placed on the table, then asked what I would care to drink....a carafe of about 300ml red wine was duly delivered. My main was two good sized pieces of fish with a large portion of tomato and pepper rice. I chose the cheesecake for desert. An almighty slab came out. This weekend I cycled through Alentejo to Beira Baixa where I stopped in at Vila Velha de Rodão, overlooking the Tagus. I happened into a wonderfully quaint pastry shop. They waitress served up a steaming coffee and Belén pastry (ehh custard). Delicioso! I proceded on to tour the town until lunch time when I managed to find my way back to the same café which was connected to A Ponte. What a fantastic meal and wonderfully friendly Portuguese ambience. Good food BUT very very poor service. .we stood for nearly an hour before someone attended to us.
