It is a shame that management can ruin what should be a pleasant experience. The course itself is quite nice. not that long but challenging as most greens are elevated and greens undulated and tend to run fast.
I am a town resident and live less than a mile away. However, rather than take advantage of the lower greens fees available to residents, i play other courses as they are manged better and you leave with a smile on your face. Not so at River Vale. Always one thing or another makes you walk away scratching your head as to why you are irritated after playing a nice course.
A quick example. they want you to book online. Should be easy enough. Not so much as you cannot book a time as a single and the online booking only gives you rates for non residents. Really. I am an out of town member at Blue Hill and when I book there, I can book online as a single and the appropriate rate is listed. Same app is used by both courses. Go figure. Was told you can call and make a tee time but nobody ever answers the phone. Goes straight to a message saying to visit online.
there are plenty of other things that make it apparent that management just does not get it. A shame as I am sure my tax dollars are underwriting part of the operation of a course that makes it extremely difficult for a resident to play or even...
Read moreYou can not control the weather. But you can control the way you choose to conduct business. After explaining that I was on a road trip from Canada and had only played ten holes, I was told that I could not receive a refund and only a rain check. That I, in fact, played “the bulk of my round” (LOL), and should be satisfied with my experience. In my opinion, a 9 hole refund shouldn’t have been a problem. It’s not about 30 dollars, it’s about the principle. And I can guarantee based on principle, and the fact I live 8 hours away from Rivervale, I will not be returning to the club.
The first ten holes were excellent. Well maintained, challenging but fair, greens as fast as lightning. The staff were all really great as well, the carts are dope, the bar welcoming and the food delicious. Recommend if you can risk coming back with a rain check, not if you live out of...
Read moreTop-Tier Course with Country Club Feel, Immaculate Fairways, Pristine Bunkers, Thick Roughs, Fast Greens. We tee’d off early on a beautiful morning and had an incredible round at River Vale Country Club. The course is in superb shape—maintenance crews were actively working throughout the morning, repairing divots, raking bunkers, rolling fairways and keeping everything pristine. The greens were lightning-fast and true, making putting a test of control. The layout is fun and challenging, with a great mix of tight fairways, elevation changes, and well-placed hazards.
Carts are modern and equipped with GPS screens, and the pace of play was perfect—no pressure from behind, no delays ahead. It felt like the course was all ours. Overall, one of the best-kept and most enjoyable public tracks I’ve played in the NY/NJ area....
