I've enjoyed a superb three days at Pili Pili. Tucked away underneath the bar and restaurant are two rooms and two apartments. I simply loved studio two and had everything I needed here in this little boutique space. I was so content, I didn't leave the compound for three days!||||The decor is a classy combination of imigongo wall art, a super comfortable bed and some fun pink soft furnishings. I loved the white-washed wooden floor, the cowhide rug and the banana fibre ceiling. The studio has a state-of-the-art TV and satellite channels, fast WiFi and fully stocked drinks fridge. The self-contained bathroom has beautiful tiles and a powerful shower. Upstairs at the bar is a swimming pool, 'urban beach and lots of activities for the kids.||||I slept very well and was not disturbed by the sound of the bar upstairs. (Sunday afternoons / nights can be very loud as it's the restaurant's busiest day of the week. Guests who need an early night on Sunday may prefer to stay elsewhere).||||Despite the busy bar and restaurant upstairs, I really felt I had the whole compound to myself. The only disturbance was the occasional discrete sweeping and the arrival of a wonderful breakfast on a tray every morning. I enjoyed being able to sit out on my own little terrace and see the mist rise above the city of Kigali. I spent my evenings eating at the restaurant, working my way through the menu of African (try the fish) and international dishes. I’d highly recommend Pili Pili, for the beautiful rooms, great service and the...

Tuesday: I was hoping to have dinner then stay on and drink the night at Pili Pili restaurant. It was my first time to visit and it was a bit hard to find. Upon arrival, I was met at the gate by a smiling server who took good care of me. This is where the good experience ends. They didn’t have what I wanted so I had dry pizza after a very long wait. About half way through, the server said her shift was ending and she wanted to close my bill. I paid it.
The next shift ignored me. After about 1 hr and 45 min, I got up and walked past all the servers in front of the bar. They acted like they didn’t see me.
Sunday: Even though my last experience wasn’t so good, the next was so bad, I’m never going again. I was told Sunday night was good there. I showed up around 9PM. I estimate there were 150 patrons and standing room only. The bar was too crowded to find a place to stand. There were TWO bartenders. I walked around the club hoping to find a server. I walked upstairs, around the pool then to the back. All the tables were occupied but not everyone was drinking either by choice or from poor service. As I walked back to the front toward the bar, Security pushed me as he escorted two other patrons past me. With my mood ruined, I went to the bar and waited a few minutes then gave up. If I can’t get a drink in 45 min, the bar doesn’t need or deserve...
