I recently dined at Chef Al Bahar on Sabeen Street and had a really good experience. We ordered a variety of seafood dishes, and everything turned out flavorful and fresh. The standout items for me were the fried shrimps and the fried fish, which were cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We also tried the hamour fried, hamour grilled, calamari fried, and mix rice, and each dish had its own distinct taste without being overly oily or bland.
One of the highlights was when we asked the chef to make the BBQ spicy. He prepared it exactly as we requested, and the result was excellent. The seasoning and spice level were balanced just right, making the BBQ flavorful without overpowering the natural taste of the seafood. It really showed that the kitchen is willing to listen to customer preferences, which I appreciated.
The restaurant itself is modest in size but set up thoughtfully. There’s a small seating area for men on the ground floor, while families have a dedicated section upstairs with closed cabins, which makes it more private and comfortable for groups or families who want a bit of space. The service was attentive, and the staff seemed eager to ensure we enjoyed our meal.
The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that while the food quality was excellent, the seating area on the ground floor felt a little limited. It could get crowded quickly during peak times, so planning ahead or opting for the family section might be better.
Overall, Chef Al Bahar is a great spot if you enjoy fresh seafood with a touch of personalized flavor. I would definitely recommend trying the fried shrimps and asking the chef to spice up the BBQ you won’t be...
