I recently visited Jamil Restaurant in Madinah Al Munawwarah, driven by a well-known YouTuber's recommendation. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype, primarily due to the restaurant's lack of cleanliness and mediocre food quality. The moment we walked in, I noticed the lack of hygiene in the dining area. The walls appeared dusty, as if they hadn’t been cleaned in years, giving the entire place a neglected vibe. The chairs were similarly unkempt, which made me uncomfortable from the start. In a dining establishment, especially one recommended so publicly, a clean and welcoming environment should be a priority, and this restaurant, unfortunately, did not meet those basic standards. When it came to the food, I had expected something special, but the dishes turned out to be quite ordinary. The flavors were underwhelming, lacking the richness and distinct tastes I’ve experienced in Riyadh, where we have many diverse and flavor-packed options. While the food wasn’t exactly terrible, it didn’t justify the reputation or the high recommendation we had seen online. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Jamil Restaurant if you’re looking for a memorable or tasty dining experience. A focus on cleanliness and a boost in food quality could significantly improve it, but as it stands, there are far better...
Read moreWhy did I visit: I watched one YouTube blog on this restaurant and decided to visit as it sounded very good. I came to Madinah for a week stay.
What’s bad 👎 Told to wait max 10 mins for a table. Took 30 mins. Was lied to by manager. Then when the table was ready, another family came and almost sat on it (who didn’t wait at all). The manager couldn’t have cared less. Outdoor seating was disgusting, stained chairs, tables etc. Indoor chairs were filthy. We had to clean them with tissues ourselves as the waiters couldn’t be bothered. I didn’t even want to go in the washroom to wash my hands as it was covered with mud! Absolutely horrific sight, and the basin was broken with a tap falling off! When I told the manager, he said that all sorts of people come here and we can’t do anything. In blogs, they show the robot coming and serving food. One of the main reasons I came. Don’t expect this! Apparently it’s ‘charging’. I was there for 2 hours and was it not done charging then?! Overall hygiene was not good.
What’s good 👍 Food was fresh Reasonable priced food (4 people ate with dessert an drinks for 120 SAR) Food was nice. Not crazy impressed though.
Overall Overall a poor experience. Would not go again nor recommend to my family or friends. The honest truth is they don’t care...
Read moreAs someone from Karachi, dining at Jameel Restaurant in Medina felt like a comforting return home. The ambiance immediately reminded me of the upscale seaside dining experience you'd get at Do Darya. From the decor to the aroma of spices in the air, everything felt authentically Pakistani.
We ordered the Mutton Karahi and BBQ platter — both were outstanding. The Karahi had that perfect balance of spice and tenderness, while the BBQ was grilled to juicy perfection, capturing the rich, smoky flavors typical of high-end Karachi eateries. It’s rare to find food abroad that matches the taste of home so closely, but Jameel delivers.
Service deserves a special mention — Sardar Ali, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Polite, prompt, and professional, his assistance made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
Prices are more than reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making it a great value. It’s clear that Jameel isn’t just another restaurant — it’s a comfort zone for anyone missing the flavors of Pakistan.
If you’re ever in Medina and craving proper Pakistani cuisine, especially from a Karachiite's perspective, Jameel is the place. We’re already planning to come back soon for their nashta!
