The Canteen Lounge is Located in LuLu Hypermarket in Al Malaz, the Lounge by Canteen is one of the popular South Indian restaurants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They serve Thani Nadan Kerala cuisine but with a modern twist. The cuisine includes dishes like Wayanadan Variyellu Roast, Beef Nadan Curry and Thani Naadna Fish Curry. Apart from this, they also have Thalassery Dum Biryani, which is a part of Thalassery cuisine from Northern Kerala.Their menu includes some Indian classics like Chicken Tikka, Hariyali Kebab, Malai Kebab, Tandoori Chicken and more. But if you are a seafood lover, do not miss out on their Chemeen Fry and Chemeen Roast. Their menu also features some of the Keralan classics, including Malabar Chicken Curry, Mallu 65, Kappa, Kerala Parotta and more. To accompany these sizzling flavours, they even have an extensive list of mocktails, milkshakes, smoothies and fresh juice. The Nadan Mojito, Berry Mojito, Mango Smoothie, Sharjah Milkshake and Avocado Milkshake are some of the drinks worth trying. To end your feast of the Thani Nadan cuisine, go for their Cyboss Royal Falooda or simple Fruits Salad With Ice Cream or their speciality—Baked Alaska! Apart from this, the ambiance of the restaurant is minimalist with a black and gold colour scheme. The place is adorned with glass partitions and suspended lamps which change the vibe of the entire restaurant. Also, the place is decorated with medium-sized plants to add a refreshing green element. Not to forget the panoramic view offered by the surroundings! The place has ample parking space and spacious private seating to enjoy a meal with your family. The Canteen Launch –

I recently visited The Canteen Launch and had a great overall experience.

Ambience: The atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming. It’s neat and clean, with no unnecessary noise or disturbance, making it an ideal spot for both family functions and bachelor parties. The seating arrangement is comfortable and spacious enough to handle groups easily.

Food: The food quality is excellent. Every dish we tried was flavorful and prepared with care. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was nice as well. The price is on the slightly higher side, but considering the quality and clean preparation, it feels justified.

Parking: Parking is hassle-free here. There’s enough space available, so you don’t need to worry about finding a spot even if you’re arriving with multiple vehicles or for a larger gathering.

Service and Management: The staff are polite, attentive, and very helpful. Management seems to have trained them well—they make sure you’re comfortable and satisfied. It’s clear they value customer service and work hard to maintain a good reputation.

Suitability: Overall, The Canteen Launch is very suitable for small family get-togethers, birthday celebrations, bachelor parties, or even casual dining with friends. It strikes a good balance between quality, comfort, and service.

Disappointingly Overhyped

I recently dined at Canteen Lounge in Riyadh, drawn in by the buzz it received from YouTubers and social media. However, my experience left much to be desired. The prices were disproportionately high for the overall quality of the dining experience.

While the ambiance was pleasant, it failed to justify the premium attached to the menu. The dishes, though presented well, lacked the exceptional taste one would expect at this price point. It felt like I was paying for the reputation rather than the actual culinary experience.

Service was adequate, but it didn't go above and beyond to make up for the steep prices. The staff seemed more focused on maintaining appearances than genuinely ensuring a memorable dining experience.
