Traveling from Croatia to Sofia, we decided to take a break and try the place after I watched an instagram review. Around 16:00 it was busy. We had: home made bread, really good, country side stile 10/10. Beef soup, this was just a broth pretty much no meat, some carrots and potatoes in ir?!? The broth tasted good, but I was expecting rich, full, thick mixture as we like thru the Balkans. Shopska salad, from a bulgarian perspective it is way too small, more of a kids meal. 6/10. But I guess the focus is on the meat. Pleskavica, regular. Very, very good, 10/10 It had a small side of baked potatoes and a cabage/onion salad, both were perfect! I hate places that allow smoking inside, but they had really good fume extraction. Big plus for that. It is noisy, prepare for that. A, bit dark in the inner part, close to the bar. The service was good, it was not really quick, but it was busy, I understand that, I been in the restaurant, so I know difficult can get. I didn’t order rhe popular meat there, it is around 30Eu/kg, with minimum 500gr order. I will visit again, for sure, I will leave 4 stars, just because the salad is way too small, we are on the Balkans, come on, tomatoes and cucumbers can be grown even behind the restaurant, and make a nice, thick телеча, not just broth… Мястото е интересно, заслужава си посещението, съвсем близо е до...
Read moreI had a lovely experience at Kod Deda Stavre. The service was genuinely warm and attentive—especially the team of stewards, who were amazing from start to finish. There’s even valet parking service, which adds convenience and a nice touch to the overall hospitality. The atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing with people, giving it a lively and authentic Serbian feel.
We went all in on traditional Serbian cuisine and were not disappointed. We ordered grilled lamb—the kind that’s cooked whole on a spit and then carved into juicy, tender pieces. It was absolutely flavorful. Alongside that, we had kaymak, a fresh tomato salad, and hot chili peppers. For starters, we enjoyed a liver tartare, which was unique and well-prepared.
For drinks, we tried a few things. The rakija brand was Gurda—it wasn’t bad, but it had a slightly artificial taste, so I wouldn’t strongly recommend it. The white wine, however, from Kovačević, was lovely and paired perfectly with the meal. We also tried some traditional sweets, which rounded off the experience nicely.
And if your steward happens to be Kristina, consider yourself lucky—she’s absolutely amazing!
All in all, a great place to enjoy traditional Serbian flavors in a cozy, friendly environment. Definitely...

However the food unfortunately was not that good, we had a grill plate for 4 people and some of the meat was raw and even cold.
We have been in there a bit late in the evening, when there was no more "pecenje" available and we then ordered a grill plate instead. It was not that crowded at the moment and first issue was that we have waited for this plate 45 minutes.
When it arrived some of the meat was cold, but the top issue was that some of it was really raw and not that well grilled (and no its not beef, which then would be ok).
I will definitely give his place another chance and try the "pecenje", but grilled meat never...
