Terrible food. Terrible management. Terrible experience.
This is the first restaurant I have left a one star. If I could leave 0 I would...
By far the WORST meal and experience I've had on the island. The lady behind the counter who appeared to be the manager/owner looked like she couldn't be bothered to be there. Did not acknowledge a single patron/customer. Terrible attitude and demeanor for a restaurant which relies on tourism. The waiters weren't so bad and were quiet friendly.
The food overall was terrible and not worth it at all.
I ordered the prawn skewers and chips - one single skewer of baby prawns. Terrible portion size. Looked more like a child's meal size. Very plain. The chips were all fried with old oil. Every bite of chips oozed oil. And that was the same across all three meals that we ordered. Waste of money.
My wife ordered the fish burger meal. It was more a fishcake and not a fish burger. Very plain and bland. No flavour. And again the chips were full of oil.
Ordered my child the kids nugget and chips. Fast forward a few hours my child has got the runs which pretty much sums up how disgusting this place is.
The place lacks presentation and is at best very basic. We have ordered the same meals elsewhere and it came accompanied with salad etc.
Overall it honestly was the worst experience at a restaurant in Seychelles.
I genuinely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Drive down the road and eat elsewhere.
The waiter told us a lot of the Google reviews are done by friends/family which explains it all really.
P.s. Going by the reply of the owner just shows their bad attitude and demeanor. The waiter also told me they don't keep their tips if we pay on card. Abysmal management. Abysmal food. Abysmal place.
To say we ate the food and argued about the bill is quite honestly laughable. We left most of the food on the table.
Further point - this is the first and only place we left 1 star in Seychelles which clearly demonstrates how poor they really are. Excuses and sarcastic unprofessional replies online won't solve anything.
Also the reply has confirmed the person sat behind the desk with a bad attitude was the owner. a hint for the future...smile.
Going by the replies from the owner it's also quite abundantly clear they can't take criticism. Clutching at straws with desperate replies will not change the fact the food and overall experience was beyond terrible. Even claiming that we argued about the bill is beyond belief given the fact I wanted to leave a tip until the waiter said they don't keep their tips. Which is when I paid for my meal via card and left the waiter a cash tip.
I wish I took a picture of what we left.
Eat at your own peril or enjoy some proper food elsewhere served by people who are passionate about...
Read moreNot very tasty food, cheaper though. I would rather go to Del Place Restaurant at Port Glaud or La Scala Restaurant at Bel Ombre or La Perla Noire at Beau Vallon (you need reservation 1-2 days in advance for La Perla Noire) to have super delicious food for little extra money.
Nevertheless, it is a great spot to have a beer and just enjoy the beach.
This was the biggest disappointment on Seychelles together with Chez Jules restaurant on La Digue Island, where the food is maybe little bit better than in Surfers Beach but definitely not worth the money.
RESPONSE TO THE OWNER:
Had Grilled Red Snapper for 375 SCR at Surfers Beach Restaurant (Mahe)
Had Tuna Steak for 440 SCR at Del Place Restaurant (Mahe)
Had Jobfish Fillet for 300 SCR at La Scala Restaurant (Mahe)
Had Tuna Steak for 395 SCR or Light Fried Shrimps for 440 SCR at La Perla Noire (Mahe)
Had Fish/Shrimp Tacos for lunch for 375 SCR at Le Nautique (La Digue)
Everything was enormously better at those restaurants - not just the fish but the salad and service. Most of the fish I mentioned was one of the best food I have ever eaten and the price is more or less the same for the fish. Sure, you have cheaper options in the menu but I can´t compare it since I didnt taste them. The side salad was not worth the 375 SCR meal but more like 150 SCR meal.
Why would people need reservation 1-2 days in advance at La Perle Noire? Because they cook very bad...
Read moreWe are staying at Eden island and we decided to drive around 30 minutes to visit this place for lunch based on what we have read on the reviews. From our experience we were not really satisfied with most of the food that we have ordered. Here’s our score,
Deep Fried Chicken Wings: 2/5 Octopus Salad: 2/5 Seafood Pasta: 3/5 Lasagna: 2/5 Kingfish Steak: 4/5 Surfers Mixed Grill: 1/5 Fresh Mango Juice: 3/5 Pinacolada: 4/5 Caramelised Banana: 3/5
We honestly have no idea how other people on these reviews were saying that the food was great and delicious. As soon as we tasted our starters, we immediately thought that the food is not going to be good. I think they have forgotten to season the chicken wings because it was tasteless. The meats from the Surfers Mixed Grill was so tough and chewy to the point that it was inedible. The only food that was good enough was the Kingfish Steak. Also, the lady who was serving us was not very welcoming. It looks like she’s not enjoying her work at all.
The total amount that we paid was around 3550 Seychelles rupees or 178 euros and it was not worth it at all. We don’t mind paying this amount if the food is tasty. I’m pretty sure we won’t come back and would not even recommend it.
The view was great though but the sea is...
