Takamaka Beach Restaurant — Restaurant in Mahé

Great place for a "dining on the beach" experience. Fabulous location. I liked that the restaurant floor is actually the sand of the beach! Be aware that the kitchen closes early ( 7pm - really ??! ) . Maybe they were short staffed that night?. We had an enjoyable evening chatting over drinks, until we realised after 1.5 hours, that the waitress had forgotten to put our order through to the Chef. (!). Hence the 3 star service review. It's not rocket science to write an order on a piece of paper .. Also there was only one guy in the kitchen to do prep AND cooking. So long waiting times for all the other customers. I don't do negative reviews as you never know what the problems/ circumstances are on a single evening but Management need to up their game I think. 1x waitress and 1x chef and 30 customers is never going to end well.... However after that was sorted out, the food was delicious. On balance, I'd say give it a try. Just keep an eye on...

Chips/fries are 100sr (£6), meals around 300+sr (£18), 500ml beer 120sr (£7.50). I don't understand why it is so expensive when the service was actually quite slow and poor. Thankfully it was tasty.

My suggestions: don't offer three sizes of beer just so you can charge more, small or large is just fine. Be more attentive to clients sat right near you at the bar, you're that close you might as well bring the drinks over. Charging 350sr for a chicken curry you can get in SPAR for 50sr is a rip off, especially when you have to make your own salad and collect the rice yourself.

Wir sind heute auf Empfehlung unseres Reiseführers und aufgrund der guten Bewertungen in dieses Restaurant gegangen und freuten uns eigenlich sehr auf frischen und leckeren Fisch. Dementsprechend enttäuscht waren wir, als wir statt frisches Thunfischsteak etwas bekamen, das sehr stark in Knoblauch und Marinade eingelegt war, dass man den ordentlichen Fischgeruch nicht mehr riechen sollte. Hat man aber trotzdem. Die Beilagen bestanden aus Reis, wässrigem Linsenmus und einer vermeintlich kreolischen Sauße, die schmeckte, als ob man Ketchup mit einigen Gemüsestücken versetzt hätte. Einzig der marinierte Fisch war genießbar, wobei die Sauße sehr currylastig war. Zusammen mit einer Flasche Wasser, einer Cola, einem Fruchtcocktail und einem Eistee waren wir dann über 1.400 SCR los (knapp 100 €) - sehr teuer und wirklich nicht gut. Das Ambiente an sich ist echt nett, man sitzt mit den Füßen im Sand direkt an einem wunderschönen Strand mit toller Aussicht. Zum Personal, hier können wir uns nicht beklagen, freundlich und zuvorkommend - nur die Reaktion auf den halb gegessenen Thunfisch war eher enttäuschend - nämlich gar keine.
