Dodgy, unfriendly, borderline dishonest, average food and price. Will not return in future.
Salty and oily food typical of your late-night prata shop. Prata kosong arrived crispy as though it had been deep fried. Interesting and may appeal to some, but was not the typical prata kosong I was expecting.
Avoid Kashmiri Naan; arrived thick, fluffy, salty and pizza-esq. Not authentic.
Unassumingly agreed to a "medium" size teh-ice during the ordering process which turned out to be a mistake. When it arrived it was a 1L mug which was more like a "large" or "extra large" than "medium". Taste-wise was your typical teh-tarik with about half a tin of condensed milk mixed in. Nice but later kidneys sure rosak. Cost $5 which was moderately overpriced considering it was mainly condensed milk and ice.
Staff were unfriendly, avoided eye contact and stopped short of throwing our order on the table. Came across as un-interested in serving us, possibly due to the small quantity of food we ordered (already had dinner, this was meant to be a light meal/supper). Eventually approached us at 3am and suggested that we leave their premises; telling us to go and pay at the cashier. This seemed unreasonable to us as there were numerous empty tables at that time and there were no customers waiting for a table.
As other reviews have mentioned, staff attempted to subtly and sneakily upsell us food. Fortunately we were pre-warned about their dodgy practices and caught on when staff tried to sneakily add an item to our tab. "Abang, bee hoon goreng one" was our order, to which our server muttered almost under his breath and trailed off, "ok, bee hoon goreng ah, something-something chicken...". As soon as we heard this, alarm bells rang and disaster was averted by one of us reiterating our order, "no, no, bee hoon goreng one, NORMAL only, NO CHICKEN".
Walked across the road and got some friendly smiles from staff at a different eatery (even though we weren't patronising their shop at the time), so we know where we will be going the next time we are at sgoon gardens for supper. Hint: it won't be RK...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed being chase away by an Indian staff twice. Poor service and very rude. 4 of us reach the eating house n sat down at 2110hrs, we ordered 2 tissue prata, n 4 pieces of prata, a mutton soup, 4 glasses of teh n added a Limau drinks too which cost us $27.70, (table 24) at 2125hrs our tissue prata and teh was served, n we enjoy our food, in abt 15mins time, a (fat) staff approached us and asked, u all can leave? He claim he has customer, are we not his customer? We told him, our remainder pending of 4 pcs of prata was not served at all, as We believed they missed out order, instead of apologies, he rudely took 4 prata with 2 each on a plate and just unhappily put it on our table. My mum just asked him, is this hot as this 4 pcs he served was done 15mins ago. And he replied rudely touch it n feel it yourself. Reason for My mum asking because he just grab 4 pcs and rudely placed on our table. This was served at 10mins to 2200hrs on 19/7/20, While I was drinking my Limau drink halfway through and my friend who was still eating the missed out order prata, this rude staff came again n chased us to leave the eating house. We have not finish our food but was being chased out of the eating house twice, should this happen in a service line? Food was not completely serve, no apology, instead chase by staff of the eating house twice. We really appreciate if the management would look into this and trained this guy properly. He argued he only asking, I told him, he asked twice already. In fact, he should not ask at all, Instead of using his eyes to see before even asked us to leave one more time. I felt if the eating house have time limit for each table, pls indicate so we can choose to patronise yr place or not. Moreover with the food we order n yr eating house missed out our order, we strongly felt we are not at fault. Pls trained this (fat ) staff and make sure he don’t ruin yr eating house reputation. Tks for understanding how we feel as a reasonable customer. Bad n...
Read moreI went to RK House on a busy Saturday evening, 27 July, and the crowd was absolutely packed.
The place was buzzing, which isn’t surprising since RK is one of the more popular supper spots.
But I have to say, it really felt like they were severely shorthanded, especially when it came to handling orders and serving food.
I picked my Indian rojak from the counter and handed it to the staff, and also ordered about 8 pieces of prata.
The wait ended up being over 30 minutesand it wasn’t just me. Tables all around were also waiting quite a while for their food.
It didn’t help that the staff were visibly overwhelmed, juggling dine-in orders, takeaway customers, and a flood of GrabFood and Foodpanda deliveries all at once.
Honestly, I think management needs to review their order processing system. There should be a clear priority on who gets served first.. dine-in customers, takeaways, or delivery platforms?
Right now, everything feels lumped together, which causes bottlenecks and frustration. On top of that, they really need more manpower during weekend peaks.
One more thing they can consider is introducing a QR code payment system for dine-in customers.
At the moment, you have to queue at the cashier to pay, which adds to the congestion. I know this “pay at the counter” method is standard for many Indian restaurants, but maybe it’s time to adapt.
A QR system would make it faster and more convenient for both customers and staff, especially during rush periods.
From across the road, I could see their closest rival operating more smoothly with better queue and order management and I’ve dined there before, so I know the difference is real.
RK has great food, but without streamlining their operations, the dining experience will keep feeling messy no matter how tasty...
