I went to Andes on 31 Dec 2021 at around 1245pm with my sister who is from another household. We have asked the staff/manager Kenneth if it was possible for us to split into 2 tables far away as we are from 2 different household with 3 pax each table. At first he told us we can but we had to queue apart. After about 5 minutes, he came out and said it was not possible as he had been told off by the SMM ambassadors before and he did not want to be fined $1000. I understand his fear and frustrations.
We were quite puzzled as I thought as long as we are from the same household, it is ok to be at the same table. But maybe the regulations have their grey areas too.
However, it was ok to reject us but not ok to shout at us "Leave! Leave!" We are not dogs. We were just 2 women with 4 young kids For a man to just shout at us like this in the public with others in the queue paints a very bad image of your company. The 4 young children stood there in fear as this Uncle started shouting to ask them to leave. It would have been done in a more professional and gentleman manner. Apologizing and telling us nicely he could not accommodate the 2 tables.
None of us were rude or shouted at him. We only asked him why and kept explaining we were taking 2 tables far apart. It was ok for us to leave and just packed the food home.
I am a regular customer at Aston Sembawang and I had never encountered anything so unhappy there. As much as we will still choose to eat at other outlets due to the fabulous food and service from Astons group, we will definitely not come to this outlet again.
I do hope you can look into the professional training of your staff at Bukit Panjang Plaza...
Read moreAs a well-known name in the casual Western dining scene, SG Andes by Astons has built a reputation for offering hearty, value-for-money meals. My recent visit was no exception, with both hits and a few misses that warrant attention.
I opted for the Grilled Black Pepper Chicken, a classic choice for those who appreciate a well-seasoned, flame-kissed protein. The chicken was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and carrying just the right amount of peppery heat to enhance its natural flavors without overwhelming the palate. The accompanying sides complemented the dish well, making it a satisfying and well-executed main course.
Unfortunately, the Carbonara did not quite meet the same standard. While its creamy texture is typically a hallmark of the dish, this rendition leaned too heavy, creating an overwhelming richness that dulled the overall enjoyment. Additionally, its presentation could use some refinement; visually, it lacked the inviting appeal that one expects from a well-crafted plate of pasta. A lighter touch with the sauce and a more thoughtful approach to plating could significantly elevate the...
Read moreVisited again today. The whole servicing is falling apart after losing their best staff(used to have a professional and hardworking guy called Anthony), today they couldn’t even manage a weekday peak hour. Despite having a lot of empty seats inside, the order taken is slow. Only one cashier, handled by a part time staff who doesn’t know how to greet customer and have no knowledge to introduce their dishes. Two supervisors with green checked just standing at the corner and expect all their part time to handle the works, one of them the male supervisor is especially lazy. Visited many times, I never really see him helps out the colleagues probably because supervisor in this restaurant just need to work with mouth. The turnaround of serving table can increase dramatically if they changed their supervisor, and more F&B trainings required for their part time staffs. Aston is one of my favourite entry to restaurant I really hope...
