Review:
Donkey and I recently decided to try Ayam Penyet Ria at NEX before catching a movie. We were both craving some Indonesian comfort food, and this place definitely delivered!
Donkey went for the classic Ayam Penyet plus Nasi, and I was a little hesitant about trying catfish for the first time, but he convinced me to give the Ikan Lele Bakar a shot. The server was very friendly and helpful, recommending the grilled catfish, and we also followed his suggestion to try the Soda Lucky drink, which tasted wonderfully like honeydew.
The catfish was perfectly grilled, sweet, and flavorful, and I absolutely loved it. Donkey's Ayam Penyet was also cooked perfectly, with a crispy exterior and tender, juicy meat. The highlight for us was the sambal chili. It was incredibly flavorful and packed a punch of heat, but in a good way. We couldn't get enough of it and ended up ordering two extra servings. It went so well with the chicken, fish, and rice.
The restaurant itself was cool and comfortable, and it wasn't overly crowded, which made for a relaxing dining experience. And the best part? The prices are very reasonable. We paid only $23 for our entire meal, which is great for the quality and portions.

Read moreOrdered food via Grab at 5pm, expected to receive it by 8pm — and still nothing. No Grab Rider assigned, no updates, nothing. I understand it's raining and peak hour, so I called Ayam Penyet Ria @ NEX to cancel the order. But the staff told me they couldn't cancel it from their end.
As someone who used to work in the F&B industry, I know merchants have access to the Grab Terminal, where they can retrieve the hotline number and call Grab directly to cancel the order. It's not rocket science.
I had to call THREE times. The first two staff had no idea what they were doing — absolutely clueless. It wasn’t until the third call that someone finally bothered to contact their manager and explain what was happening.
To make things worse, Grab doesn’t let customers cancel easily through the app. We're forced to go through their AI system that gives irrelevant and frustrating responses.
After my mom’s advice, we decided to just stick with the order and wait a while longer.
That said, I would really like to thank Nurul from Ayam Penyet Ria @ NEX Mall for handling this professionally. She took the initiative to call her manager and was kind and respectful throughout. Bless her for being the only one who made the effort.
I’m not trying to be petty — but after waiting hours with no food, no solution, and poor customer service, I’m honestly agitated and disappointed. I truly hope the staff there can be better trained to handle situations like this...
