The woman in the coffee shop is a racist. I experienced this twice. First I thought she was stressed like most people say. But then I notice that she treats Chinese pretty good. I could observe because I live in a building next to this place. Second was, when I was going to pay for my order, I said "card". Then she asked "Paywave?". By that time I did not what it is, so I asked what is Paywave. This woman started shouting at me in Chinese. It pulled me down very bad. I was with a friend and we both were shocked. I don't understand why they do this. I didn't come to this country to fool around. I came here because there was a job vacancy. I was interviewed four times and a background check was done for almost a month. That is not all. After coming to SG, I did volunteer work for elderly people. I have always helped SGs when they ask for a help on the street like pushing a wheelchair, buying food and etc. I don't really understand why they treat us like this. Before I come to Singapore, I searched if Singaporeans are racist but the government website itself mentioned people are welcoming. And by rule racism is illegal in Singapore. But still they treat...
Read moreâââââ If youâre around the area, Broadway Food Centre at Sim Lim Square is a super convenient spot to grab a quick and satisfying meal. Itâs your typical food court setup with plenty of choices â mixed veg rice, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Malay, you name it. Really handy if youâre in Sim Lim running errands or just looking for a no-frills meal.
This time, I tried the Korean cold noodles â and honestly, it was super refreshing. The broth was chilled and tangy, with that slight sweetness and a nice kick of spice. Noodles had a good chewy texture, and it came with sliced cucumber and egg. Perfect for a hot day! Wasnât expecting much, but it was surprisingly satisfying.
The food came out quick too, even though the place was quite packed during lunch hour. Thereâs always a steady crowd, but seating turnover is fast, and itâs air-conditioned, which is a big plus.
Prices are decent, portions are generous, and thereâs enough variety to suit different cravings. Definitely a good go-to if youâre nearby and want something quick, hot (or cold đ), and tasty without...
Read moreAvoid the chicken rice and beverage stalls at all cost. Rude and unfriendly towards foreigners. I may look Asian but a foreign expat and only communicate in English. Their staff would roll their eyes because theyâre not used to a different English accent and continue yelling in Chinese the whole time (as if they yell loud enough Iâd suddenly understand them). Chicken rice stall owner started waving me away when I asked about ordering chicken a la carte without rice, he didnât know how to handle English interactions. If your business is known for chicken, whatâs the issue with selling the chicken without rice? Lady at the beverage stall would ignore âless sugarâ request while making your tea just because your order instructions are not in broken Singlish. She added a full teaspoon heaps of sugar on purpose and loudly complained when I pointed out she was making a mistake.
Excuse me, have you never had foreign customers in Singapore? Ignorant and unhospitable. Go somewhere else, Singapore is...
