Its a place with great atmosphere and feel indeed. I read before - long q, crazy waiting times etc back then and it kinda detered me as i had 2 kiddos and i aint gona wait 1.5 hours for food. To be honest i was worried and if i was going to face anyting for than 30 mins, i will go for my Plan B place. Guess they had made improvements and i was lucky indeed. I came on a Sunday evening (around 6:40pm), all was smooth and food arrived within 5-10 mins. Top service from the staff as well, very prompt. I was expecting around 15-20 mins wait in all fairness.
Ok for the food. Claps.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 We loved it and thinks it fresh and delicious. Well done to the crew. The soup was yummy, Ngoh Hiang was superb too. My Mom and wife were raving about these 2 dish. The Chicken wings was an absolute winner in my books.
They even have a corner to pak games + play catcher dolls. Best part for kids - u r guaranteed a doll, just go counter n claim it. **was thinking how abt ensure the hook is stronger so the kids have a better sense of acomplishment, catching it themselves since its a sure win as well. Thanks to the Management team for being so kind with the free toys as some kids seems disappointed at first for failing to catch.
Free icecream corner whereby my kids again had another round of great time.
Conclusion : Great Meal Great time overall at this place. Will be back for sure and looking forward to next...
Read moreWas looking forward to visit this new place opened from Ben Yeo, but was utterly disappointed with the bad service. Even though the food was good (except for lobsters which were overcooked), will not be visiting this place again. With a total of 11 pax, we were allocated to a table near the seafood tanks and where all the servers and deliveries happened. All these were too near for comfort, had to keep enduring water been splashed on my feet’s from the “fresh catch” and servers passing by my young kids with the hot pipping fish steamboat pot etc (we have to keep our seats very near to the table to avoid that) . I understand that Mother’s Day will be busy for them thus even when we realised they forgotten to provide us with soup ladle, we went to ask the utensils counter to pick ourself but as we couldn’t find it, we asked the staff but was met with a rude response that the ladle is just infront and we had to tell the staff (a plump lady) that there’s only slotted ladle (with holes) and not the soup ladle how to scoop the soup?? Then she unwilling tried to find for us. There were also ample times that the server served the food from my toddler’s seat which we have already reminded her to serve from the adult side but she just chose to serve from her convenient side. Overall very...
Read moreReview: Charcoal Fish Head Steamboat Kallang I’ve never been much of a fish person. In fact, I’ve avoided it for years due to a bad experience in childhood. So, when a group of friends insisted on celebrating my 60th birthday on Friday, 28 March 2025, at Charcoal Fish Head Steamboat Kallang (yes, the one by Ben Yeo), I went along with low expectations—mostly for the company. To my surprise, the evening turned out to be an absolute treat. The star of the night—the fish head steamboat—was nothing short of amazing. The broth was rich, smoky, and deeply comforting. I even surprised myself by going for a second bowl of rice just to soak up more of that delicious soup. Every ingredient was fresh and cooked to perfection. What really impressed me was how light and clean the soup tasted despite being so flavourful. I kept drinking bowl after bowl of it, yet I didn’t feel overly thirsty later that night—a small but significant detail for someone who usually gets parched after steamboat meals. It was a wonderful experience, not just because of the birthday celebration, but because this place made me rethink my long-time aversion to fish. That alone speaks volumes. Highly recommended—even if you’re not a fish...
