Had a very pleasant and satisfying meal at the D'life branch along Chun Tin Road. The restaurant offers a wide variety of local and zi char style vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices, making it a great spot for a casual meal. We tried a few of their popular items: Roasted "Chicken" Rice: A solid rendition of the local classic. The "chicken," made of crispy beancurd skin, had a lovely texture, and the rice was fragrant and well-cooked. It came with a standard clear soup and chilli sauce. Claypot "Chicken" Cube Rice: This was served hot and sizzling. The rice was nicely infused with the savoury dark sauce, and the mock chicken cubes, mushrooms, and vegetables made it a wholesome one-pot meal. Sweet & Sour Abalone Mushroom: The fried abalone mushrooms were the star here. They were crispy on the outside with a satisfyingly meaty bite, and coated in a well-balanced sweet and sour sauce that wasn't overly cloying. Olive Fried Rice: A simple but well-executed dish. The rice had a nice fluffy texture and the distinct, savoury flavour of olive vegetables, with good 'wok hei'. The papadum on top added a welcome crunch. Yuan Yang: The hot Yuan Yang was served in a classic kopitiam cup and had a comforting, balanced flavour of coffee and tea. Overall, while no single dish was mind-blowingly spectacular, everything was well-prepared, tasty, and offered great value. D'life is a dependable go-to for anyone looking for a hearty and affordable...
Read moreThis is one horrible place I would never ever go again. Despite having a big board inside their shop proclaiming to be a family place where they laugh and is one big family, everyone was rude and have a high almighty attitude. It was the first day of CNY and we wanted to have vegetarian food. I have always supported vegetarian outlets despite not being a vegetarian myself. When my husband and I stepped in, there was NO CUSTOMER. Staff was in one table in the corner and NO ONE greeted us even though it was a CNY first day. The floor was super dirty and you can see the foot prints. There were 5-6 people working and nobody seems to have mopped the floor or even wipe the tables which were also sticky. The food came and it was really not bad. Only thing the vegetables were very old. We didn't finish this dish. The monkey head mushroom and fried rice were fine. When we were ready to pay, we stood at the counter and were simply ignored until I signal to a staff. There was no thank you, no smiles and a very "can't be bothered attitude". What a sad thing for first day of CNY. Best to just buy take away or go to nearby Miaoyi for vegetarian food if must. No...
Read moreI am reviewing this based on the feedback from what I ate and what my vegetarian in-laws ate. This is a traditional Chinese vegetarian(no onion, garlic, leeks) casual dining place.
I had the mee goreng, they had the chicken âGkenâ rice and Nasi Lemak, we shared a bitter gourd omelette plus two old-style almond milk drink. Overall bill was around an affordable lunch at 32 sgd
Some comments on the food: I like my mee goreng better than some of the non-vegetarian ones, I think it was the Wok-hei that nailed the taste.
My in-laws were quite surprised how big the portions were. They compared this outlet with the previous experience at the Toa Payoh branch. They certainly prefer this Beauty Branch for the size and the taste. ( I am not so sure if they are that different, maybe it is old people thing)
Overall excellent Mee Goreng and Gken Rice and Nasi Lemak. Staff was always cheerful despite the busy lunch hour.
Sorry I show menu instead of my poorly taken photos.
(The place is like 25 to 50m from the Beauty World MRT, next to a big parking lot that is...
