Recently we celebrated FitFit's birthday at East Treasure Chinese Restaurant, a place recommended by my colleagues who had previously enjoyed their meals here. And they weren't wrong—the food was truly delicious! It's a gem tucked away in Toa Payoh, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.
We sampled a variety of dishes, each showcasing the restaurant's commitment to fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. The Hanging Lettuce with Crispy Pork Belly was a standout, featuring perfectly cooked pork belly with a satisfying crunch and fresh, crisp lettuce. The Stuffed Aubergine with Minced Pork and Local Spinach in Abalone Sauce was another delight—the eggplant was cooked just right, and the sauce was flavorful and savory. The 60-hour Dry-Aged Roasted Duck was a testament to their culinary skills, with perfectly cooked, crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. The Deep-Fried Black Bean Curd with Shichimi Powder was a unique treat, and it tasted fantastic with a drizzle of duck sauce. The Wok-Fried Chives Flowers Hakka Style veggies were also a hit—crisp, flavorful, and a delightful addition to our meal.
The service was efficient and friendly, with attentive staff who ensured our dining experience was smooth from start to finish. By lunchtime, the place was buzzing with activity, and almost all tables were full, which speaks volumes about its popularity.
East Treasure offers great value for money, especially considering the generous portion sizes. It's a fantastic choice for families, groups of friends, or anyone craving a comforting Chinese meal.
In conclusion, if you’re in the area and craving delicious, no-frills Chinese food, East Treasure Chinese Restaurant will...
Read moreNever will be coming back again and having gathering at this restaurant is at your own risk especially if it’s for special guests or occasions!
Probably it’s just the staff I’ve met with that made this first experience at the restaurant memorable in an unpleasant way. But the food standards just did not help to make things any better by the end of the meal.
It is a pre-planned location for a birthday celebration and we were alright to be seated at a corner of the restaurant so there will be some privacy for our gathering but the service and food was really not up to standards.
For the Peking duck which we ordered for, it is more greasy than crispy for the skin wrap and when we requested for more cucumber to ease the oily-ness, the staff told us that it’ll be charged at $8 as a side/add-on even though we ordered 3 tables with the Peking duck and only 1 table requested for that. We had 2-3 more pieces to finish with and did not ask for a full portion but was answered off with the stated price tag and the unwillingness reply from the staff.
Next was the prawns which were tasteless though it was stir fried with some sauces. Moreover when we feedback that the prawns were not fresh, shell and flesh of the prawns were stuck together and prawns being mushy, we are being rebutted with these exact words, “黏壳的虾才是新鲜的,你们会不会,没有Facebook看写啊? 今天我们都卖了8盘都没有问题,我拿给我们的厨师吃了,他也说没事”
This staff even showed us the Google answer on his phone, and we explained that Google answer meant the flesh of the prawn should be filling to the shell and not have gaps in between in showing the freshness. He did not have anything else to answer with just walked away with plates that he just cleared.
Just because the earlier 8 plates of prawns were not complained means it’s fresh? As customers we are being questioned for our knowledge of “freshness” and no way that the feedback from us is being taken seriously with such an attitude. If the management of the restaurant is reading this review, sincerely hope the matter can be looked into carefully with proper training for your...
Read moreService at the TPY outlet is so disappointing. We are a group of 4 and asked to sit at a booth table. The male head server told us to sit at a bigger table (which easily sits at least 10) and when we insisted on the booth table, he said sarcastically that the table may not have space if the dishes all come at the same time but it’s up to us. We wanted to order the duck and was told we have to preorder, asked for sambal clams and was also told we have to preorder. Later, a female server came to tell us that the clams just arrived and cld add it to our order. Less than 5 mins later, the male server came over and told us the clams were no longer available. Naturally we were confused and told him his colleague told us otherwise just earlier. The male server shrugged his shoulders and said nonchalantly that the kitchen told him so and proceeded to strike the item off our bill. We later clarified with the female server who checked with the kitchen and found out that another table ordered a larger quantity, thus there wasn’t enough for us. The tofu we ordered were a little cold on the inside and we told the male server. He stared at the dish, repeated after us “the tofu is cold” and took the dish off the table without any words. Though he later gave us a new dish of tofu, it wouldn’t have hurt him to let us know he will bring it back to the kitchen etc. Food was decent here but the service rendered by the male server (mid/late 40s, bespectacled man) left a terrible taste in our mouths. We later found out from other colleagues that they encountered the same poor service attitude from the very same male server (they were told the clams were $28 but was charged $48 and the male server even insinuated that they don’t have the common sense to know the “market price” for clams). Had intended to celebrate a friend’s birthday in Jan but we changed our mind. Until the service improves (from the male server), I doubt any of us will be...
