I’ve been to Glasshouse at Neil Road and the experience was good. This Glasshouse at CHIJMES, however, was extremely disappointing and frustrating. First of all, at 11am, they had ran out of Turkish eggs, which i suppose is fine, perhaps they’re really busy. Then when the sourdough Built Your Own Breakfast came, it was just the bread and scrambled eggs. To my surprise, jam was $3 and butter was $3 — if I’d order both, it would be $6 for condiments alone which is ridiculous. And they had ran out of glasses for water — I had asked twice and the water did not come. Finally when I’d asked again, the sweet waiter said they had ran out of glasses. The restaurant wasn’t full and to be out of glasses was yet another ludicrous matter, for a cafe that’s usually crowded. When my glass came, I was already done with the food and half an hour had lapsed. To be fair, their cheese toast was decent, and my friend enjoyed it.
I also saw a couple of customers take their own water. All in all, the atmosphere was fine, pretty, but food was overpriced and sourdough that needed so much extra for condiments wasn’t worth it, to me. Other people might think it’s fine, but this place isn’t one...

Dropped by for brunch with a few friends last Saturday (31 May) and left thoroughly impressed—not just by the food, but by the heart behind the service.
One of my friends accidentally ordered oat milk on its own instead of a coffee with oat milk. Honest mistake.
He was prepared to make another order. However, we check with the staff if there is something that they can support.
Even though it was clearly my friend’s slip-up, the staff went out of his way to replace the drink without hesitation or fuss. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and honestly not something you see every day in busy cafés.
This staff was actually taking care of the cashier and ensuring the whole cafe operation is running well.
Food-wise, everything we had was good. I had this weekend special Halibut fish—fresh, flavorful, and well-portioned.
The overall cafe ambience was warm and welcoming, with just the right mix of cozy and vibrant. You can tell they care about both the details and the overall experience.
Great food, great vibes—and genuinely kind people behind the counter. Will...
Read moreCame here after a friend recommended Glasshouse to us and found our experience average to good.
We ordered the following: Bak kwa grilled cheese; Avocado dukkah tartine with added sous vide eggs; Mocha and a chamomile iced tea.
The avo on toast was of average quality and lacking the punch it normally can have. The sous vide eggs were too soft and looked more like the runny eggs you get at toast box. For a place that advertises a certain "style" of egg, they under delivered.
The Bak Kwa grilled cheese toastie was an interesting mix, would not normally eat this but in the CNY spirit we thought it was quite interestingly put together. The flavours complemented each other quite well and would recommend people trying this.
The mocha was of normal quality and the iced chamomile tea was a nice fresh touch to the meal.
I was originally thinking of ordering a matcha, yet on the table next to us it looked extremely watery and unappealing. If you are a Matcha girly, I do not recommend ordering that here.
Our overall experience was quite average, yet we want to mention that they have nailed the aesthetic component of...
