A good place deserves a good review! Service wise, Goodluck's staff are superb and very attentive to our needs, especially Ally! : One of them saw my friend asking the guy seating next to us if he could spare us a vacant chair (so we could put our stuff), and the staff immediately got us an extra chair from inside - great observation! Upon ordering, we asked for recommendation. Ally (I hope I got it correctly), she could have simply told us their best selling beer, but she took the interest to ask what we usually go for, find out our preferences and introduce the beer they carry. I love the interaction and respect from all their staff. Friendliness is an understatement.
Food wise, we had boneless shrimp paste karaage and fried hokkien prawn noodles. The karaage is crispy on the outside, but soft and tender in the inside. Each bite is a delight. As for the hokkien prawn noodles, it's something I've been longing for being away from SG for years - and it didn't disappoint me. If we're not ordering to share, I would want it all for myself.
Environment, I notice the gastropub play their music at a lower volume, while some restaurant nearby play their music loud. I mean we are there for beers, meet up and catching up, and not for music.
It's definitely a great experience @ goodluck. It's a place we would go back and bring our friends back...
Read moreBeware! This place is a scam! They steal your money by charging you more than is advertised in the menu! Like many other establishments in Singapore, this one took the wrong path as well.
A beer which is clearly stated on the black board to cost $16, at the end gets up to $19 or more. This is because they adopted the malicious Singaporean practice of not telling you the final price, but instead they add some secret "taxes and fees" which pump up the bill without customer's awareness.
Normally, once I see this kind of bu11$h!t, I immediately give one star. I've been too patient with this place, because their service is good. But this scam has been ongoing for too long. I really hope they would jump off this malicious wagon though, and start advertising the real prices.
Their lines seem to be dirty as well. All their beers have pepper taste and it took them forever to pour because they are so foamy.
Avoid this place at all cost, if you...
Read moreMight be my second or third time here over the years, I don't remember. But this time was fantastic! We came as a couple and sat inside. They gave us samples of the craft beers on tap and descriptions of each along with recommendations bases on your own usual preferences. We had the tangeriny IPA and a white, similar to a Belgian white. We also ordered a mala karrage or fried chicken. I'm not particularly a fan of mala but the chicken was cooked perfectly - crispy on the outside yet juicy on the inside. They also have some other interesting items on the menu but wasn't available like satay.
They also gave a shot of sake on the house as well! The ambience is nice for a speakeasy with good music on but not blasting too loud but also not too low where you can barely hear it. It was a good volume to enjoy the music without you having to raise your voice much to talk to those with you....
