Hai Zhong Bao 海中寶 — Restaurant in Singapore

A server of Vietnamese descent shouted at me at the drink store because she did not understand me. I told her teh o peng 塑料袋一杯。 She didn’t understand so I pointed the plastic cup to her at her station. She shouted at me 纸袋!，纸袋! as if I were deaf. Obviously, 纸袋 is not the right term. But never mind. If she didn’t understand she could have told me so nicely but instead she berated me. For context, the last time I came and said plastic cup in English she didn’t understand as well which is why I spoke in Chinese assuming she was trained to listen in Chinese. We are in Singapore, I can't possibly be speaking in Vietnamese correct? That was one of the rudest encounters I have ever had, especially for someone who works in the food industry where servers should be nice. Totally unkind and uncalled for because I spoke to her very politely and I was so dumbfounded that I was being shouted at when I simply just wanted to order a drink. Totally ruined my day. Please teach her some...

We always ordered dinner from this zhu chao cos office is just ard here.

The food taste is average, tried many dishes before. The Pai Gu Wang with sunny side up rice is the best, Kong Bao chicken rice is average, Salted egg pork chop rice average but the Ho-Fun & Sin zhou fried meehoon doesn't make the mark.

The best part is, it provides convenient services such as ordering via phone hence it saves us a lot of waiting time. Just order via phone n self-collection within 15-20mins, very fast.

The price is a little pricier compared to many other zhu chao stalls but cos it provides the convenience so we dont actually mind.

Staff attitude so far ok with the so many times of encounter. If food taste & quality can b improve further, i believe at least 2 days out of a week of patronising...

Came here on a Sunday. Ordered 4 dishes, waiting time were long although table were not exactly full. Server explained only ONE chef in the kitchen.

Then came the food, portion was extremely small as compared to similar established around the area. And knowing there were only 7 prawns in size small, we specifically ordered size medium. End up still came small.

Server now explained chef and staff are new today. How convenient. No intention to add extra prawns but only to change final bill to small size. But what we actually wanted werr more prawn not to pay...
