I've been working in Paya Lebar area for more than 2 years now and thought I already know it all when come to good food.
I was wrong. A contractor friend brought me here and it was like a whole new discovery of my favourite braised port and duck. Below are my thought on the various important aspect when come to grabbing a good lunch:
Getting there. Bus stop just 2 minutes walk away. By car, plenty of car parks just 10 meters away.
Taste. Possibly the best fish soup in Geylang area. The fish head and fried fish bones offerings just up the their attraction by another notch. Dark soya sauce pork trotter, belly and spare parts are so close to perfection. Else where are just too salty.
Friendliness. Feel very welcome every time. They actually greet you like in a small town. On top of that, they remember your last order, just have to say "same old".
Price. A good meal for under $5 and add $1.10 to get yourself a coffee. Unless you splurge ordering an addition belly or mixed organ or others at $4 per plate. Even that...

They were quite generous with the fish slices in the soup, and even though I found the soup a tad too salty, didn't experience much thirst after drinking it, hopefully it means they didn't add MSG in it. Service was a bit brusque, there weren't a lot of people when I visited, but felt like the staff wasn't very patient in taking the order. Wish they provided the price of the items so you have a sense of how much the bill...

The fish soup has a very clear and light taste, and the taste grows on you the more you drink the soup. The fish also tastes fresh and does not have the slightest hint of fishiness.
The duck porridge has a deep, herbal flavor for the soup and the duck is also fatty and well braised. I prefer this to the fish soup mostly because I like dishes which are stronger in flavor, but that does not mean that the fish soup is bad. Some days, you just feel like eating something light and this fish soup definitely hits the spot.
If you are feeling fish soup/duck porridge, this store is definitely...
