It’s Such a shame that the service is subpar and some staff are not It’s my first time dining in here, usually we do takeaways for the pizza and thought to dine here to give it a try as we live nearby
Mailyn the lady waiter with a short Bob was quite rude to us when I indicated to her that the mushroom soup was too salty, she said to me “we don’t add any salt” I thought I heard her wrongly because if I’m not tasting salt what am I tasting so I clarified with her and she said “there’s no salt at all!” I was taken aback as she proceeded to shove the bowl back to me and ask me to taste it in front of her, she then tried the soup front of me and said yea no salt! Then she proceeded to ask each one of the staff to try right in front of us like she’s trying to prove a point, I think that was very rude and some of the staff also just dunked their fingers in the soup and licked it.
I honestly think no staff should provide this kind of service or even do this in front of customers. Finally ming and the pizza chef said to add more cream and rectified the situation.
I must say was it because of the way we were dressed down? Is this was caused this service because she treated the other tables much better- checking in on them etc
I must say Ming is really friendly and great and did his best to make everything better and I appreciate that. Ming was the one who made an effort to recover the situation
They also got our order wrong and served a different pasta when we didn’t order that
Would I come back? Yes, in hopes to receive better service and because the food is that good. The food is wonderful I have to admit that it tastes amazing especially the pizzas
Unfortunately this experience was really not the best and dampened our mood as well especially from since the mushroom soup was the first dish of the meal. I think for this price point, the service does not do the place justice, if I were to compare to the newly launched FICO in the east as well, their service tops this place a 100% and is way better.
The dark mushroom soup was before and the lighter is...
Read moreNice little Italian restaurant tucked away in Katong. Reasonably priced food and drinks. I highly recommend the Mare E Monti seafood pizza, with whole clams and prawns, and really fresh. Wow!!! The mascarpone pizza is also unique and good. Italian draught beer was light and refreshing with the food. Waitress said they are full house every day so best to book in advance. Update: They recently relocated to a slightly larger premise down the road and in front of the URA carpark. Very convenient. Food and ambiance just as good. In addition to previous favorites, we also tried some new dishes that I can now recommend - Tangliere Misto antipasti (Italian cold cuts and cheese with basket of fresh homemade bread), Truffle Schiacciata (a pizza sandwich with truffle paste and cheese), Pacchari Salsiccia Porcini (creamy short pasta with Italian sausage and mushrooms), Vongole spaghetti and the Carbonara. For dessert we had the Pannacotta and Cannoli Siciliani. Though I preferred the pannacotta, the latter was quite special and a less sweet option. It’s a fried dough tube stuffed with creamy ricotta and sprinkled with chocolate chips and dried fruit (I’m not a fan of dried fruit haha). Update 6/5/2022: Went back there again to celebrate my parents anniversary. The seafood pizza was improved with addition of mussels. Chef Carlos did an excellent job with the baked whole Scottish sea bream. Finally tried the lemon sorbet and it was indeed delicious and refreshing...
Read moreWe were invited by Italian friends, known for their pickiness of Italian food, to Little Italy one Sunday for dinner. We were personally attended to by owner who is an Italian too and who relocated to SG years ago.
We started with some antipasto and baskets of focaccia to share with some Peroni and wine which were honestly out of this world in freshness and taste.
We then proceeded to order our own dishes, and plates after plates of delicious-ness were served. My wife and I ordered fettuccine with bolognese sauce to share since the antipasto and focaccia were quite filling. Though we did try a slice of Little Italy pizza and a piece of cheese calzone. All dishes brought gentle hmms of satisfaction out of everyone which spoke volumes of the quality of the restaurant, especially since our Italian friends don't normally eat out since they couldn't find "half decent" Italian food in SG.
To top things off, we ordered their signature lemon sorbets which were just delightful - served in a full cut out lemon, the sorbets were soft, smooth and gently sugared which went down really well.
We'd give Little Italy more than 5 stars if possible. Will definitely return for more...
