Had a small family dinner at Maguro Brothers located on Level 3 of 100AM. Maguro Brothers is part of the group of restaurants with Kuro Maguro over at Guoco Tower and Maguro Donya at Suntec City. As a Gold member on J-Passport for the above 3 restaurants, we managed to enjoy 30% off on today's meal.
Started the meal with an Omakase of 10 different Sashimi cuts. The Sashimi were fresh and yummy, with the Chutoro and Otoro melt in your mouth heavenly. 3 more appetisers were ordered with Grilled Monkfish, Grilled Lotus Chips and Agedashi Tofu. All 3 were yummy, tasty & had wonderful texture. Redeemed 2 pieces of Anago Nigiri with my J-Passport points, which was tender and had a lighter flavour from the usual Unagi Kabayaki.
We ordered 4 pieces of Megumi Gunkan, which consists of Negitoro with Uni and Ikura. The flavour mix was so well balanced & tasty that it had most of us craving for more. Hence, 4 of us ordered the Toro Uni Don set which had generous serving of Otoro with Uni & Ikura Don. That main was so good. An order of Sumire Sushi Don, as the flavour of Uni is not for all, & the set had some really well made Sushi which had a wonderful balance of taste.
The meal tonight was wonderful and satisfying. A pity we did not know of their Grilled Hon Maguro Head before hand as being able to enjoy the huge half head of the Tuna fish appealed to us & definitely made us all want to return again for it
General Verdict: This new branch of the Maguro group is definitely a great addition to the family & worth a visit again very soon. Quality here is almost on par with the fish markets of Japan

Read more(Media Tasting) Fans of Maguro, you should bookmark this casual eatery at 100AM mall for your next tuna fix. Although at one glance, their menu seems to include everything from regular sushi to donburi, some fried items and sides, what really defines them are the rare parts of the Bluefin Tuna, all affordably priced. Delicacies include Toro Head, Cheek, Ribs and Dorsal sashimi. The whole grilled tuna head ($188++) requires advance order of one week as quantity is extremely limited. Majestic in size, it is easily shared amongst four pax - just add bowls of rice, miso soup and if you like, chawanmushi. I like that freshly sliced chilli padi (such a pleasant surprise), wasabi, ponzu and grated daikon are its accompaniments. Head Chef @masaki_maguro had helped us to dissect the Maguro head that day but please note the presentation and explanation is usually done at the diners’ table, after which they can freely help themselves to it. Other more conventional cuts to indulge in, which I reckon are no less impressive considering the wallet-friendly prices, are Otoro (fatty tuna belly), Akami (meaty red tuna) and Chutoro (back and stomach of the fish). Very pleased to see that they do Donburi Set Menus showcasing different cuts of tuna too ($29.80 to $49.80++). Designed to make everyone go “wow!” is the Megumi Gunkan - touted as the ultimate "battleship" sushi overflowing with scraped Maguro toro, Uni (sea urchin) and Ikura. I can’t help but think of it as a luxurious sushi ice-cream sundae. An atypical dessert to end your meal...
