19 November 2020, Thursday Today, at 11:45 am I was eating Gado2 at the satay stall in the last inner stall on the left side from entrance to Teh Tarik Restaurant. I ordered gado2 normal priced $4.00 I paid $6.00 as the satay seller charged 4 sticks of chicken satay. But the taste of the gado2 was horrible. The rice cake was only one small piece from mini ketupat. There was no cucumber, except for two small pieces of either boiled or fried potato. The gravy was horrible. Diluted gravy and no taste of spice. There was not even a slice of raw onion. I will not come back again to that stall. Then I ordered a glass of 'hot lime water'. The drink seller, who looked young like early twenties had no common sense. He did not even ask me whether I want ice cubes or not as the water was very hot. He did not even advise me to drink the hot water carefully. I paid $1.30 then went back to my chair. When I suck the water, it was burning hot. I got shocked and went back to the drink stall to ask for ice cubes. The seller instead of putting ice cubes, he scolded me angrily like I was a beggar asking him for ice cubes. He kept scolding me when I asked for ice cubes. When I rejected to take the hot lime hot water, he did not even paid me back the money. In front of other customers who was qeueing up, he insulted me by showing his fingers turning round his right face to express like I was a mad woman. As I was very embarassed of his harsh and loafer behaviour, I turned away and refused to argue with him. It is not ethical for me to continue arguing with the rogue drinks seller. I lost my money for giving him free as he did not even want to give back my drinks money. I am an old woman, and I feel it is not very good for me to allow him confronting me further. Next time, all customers I advise beware of the quarrelsome young man who sold drinks at that stall. He had no concern for customers especially senior and elderly. He confronted customers furiously without...
Read moreHad a meet-up with an old friend there as the food is great and the drinks are nice too especially "Teh Tarik Ice". But a particular stall "local delight" staff(wearing a black hat) attitude seriously needs to be look into! Tried to order a dish with him but was rudely pointed to the cashier area.So i went there and repeated my order again with him but was met with a blank stare. He waited for a few seconds before asking in a loud uninterested tone "Makan or packet?" By this time I was already turned off by his lousy attitude and told him "forget it" and walk away.I don't owe him a living and is there a need for such behaviour? The stall probably lost a considerable amount of customers who were turn off by his less than desirable attitude! Like he literally hates the customers! Not the best person to be representing a company...
Read moreWhenever I am within the Geylang Serai area, Mr. Teh Tarik is one of my favorite places to go.
We went there to get our Hokkien mee and fried Kway Teow for lunch. It is near the entrance just beside the pisang goreng stall.
As always, the 2 dishes we ordered are Hokkien mee and fried kway teow. Ironically, although the menu is Chinese but the cook is of Indian heritage and he cooks it perfectly and fast too. You don't have to wait long to get your food.
The Hokkien mee was flavourful and not too soggy. Fresh prawns and ingredients. The Fried Kway Teow with clams is spot on too. The "char" taste is present with the right amount of sweet dark sauce.
Then coupled with teh tarik to end your meal is so blissfully satisfying. Give it a try if...
