Had it at jewel changi basement food courts. It’s a stall in the corner. (There’s no google review page for jewel changi branch) The service isn’t great. The guys were a bit blur blur and there was a long wait even to place order. Don’t know why the guys were ignoring people standing in the line. Or maybe they are too busy. The food was made to order so it was fresh. The prices aren’t cheap $4.00 for gula melaka sugar only and $4.50 for sugar with coconut filling, $4.70 for other flavors like chocolate, peanut etc. they also had an option - 2 flavors mixed box of 4 (2 pieces of each flavor) for $6. I think it’s a weird premium pricing. I mean if you charge $5 for 4 of 2 each mixed flavor, it’s already $0.30 extra for the “trouble” , right? But to charge over $1.30 for the “trouble” of making different flavors (which you have to do anyway if you got orders per box), it’s a bit over charging. The putu piring tastes good fresh and hot. The coconut gratings were too salty but it complemented the sweet kueh. This was Soft, fluffy and sweet. A nice dessert. I think the basic gula melaka one was the best for me. Would I eat it again? I don’t mind, if I’m in jewel. But I won’t travel purposely for it, surely.

A very small store run so efficiently by a group of ladies working in an assembly line. Orders are taken through a machine, like an ATM machine. Based on the order the putus get packed. Each packet has 5 small putus that are packed tight to form a rice cake, to say so. It's served along with coconut and gula melaka or palm sugar. Definitely worth a try, given that this store was featured on Netflix, the store also has a board mentioning the same. I would also like to note here that I wasn't a fan of putu puring and I was quite disappointed with the taste and texture of it. This is solely because I grew up in Southern India where putu, is a stable breakfast dish. And putu puring is nowhere near that in taste. Coconut shavings that were served along didn't taste quite fresh and had a salty taste to it, that's not how fresh coconut would taste. Texture wise it was tightly packed to form a rice cake so that was also something that I didn't expect to see.

This review is for the outlet at Nex. I have noted that an earlier review also commented on the poor service. I would echo the same. The cashier could do with a smile which would not havec hurt anyone, instead of being sullen. Her demeanour was not welcoming at all. For $3.70 you get 4 pieces of coconut filled putu piring. The dough was soft with salty sweet coconut. As you break apart the steamed putu piring the sweet aroma of the gula melaka wafted up your nostrils. What was missing was the fragrance from the pandan leaf which you get from kueh tutu. I kept 2 putu piring to try after 4 hours. The dough was a little firmer and the coconut filling was not as fragrant as it was cold. I microwaved for 15 seconds and it was much better. The dough was softer like it just came out of the steamer and you could smell the fragrance of the filling. I gave a 2 star rating due to the unfriendly service.

Today was too lazy to travel all the way to the original outlet at Haig road, so I decided to try the branch at East Village Mall. Ordered 3 original with gula melaka and 2 with brown coconut. Male staff informed that I have to wait awhile as they don't have any ready ones with brown coconut. During collection, I noticed that the packaging was in a box instead of the usual paper wrappings used at the Haig road outlet. Upon reaching home, while we were eating, my eldest daughter also notice the new packaging in the box and said that just one week ago, she had bought some from the Haig road outlet and they were still using the original paper wrappings. The other difference is East Village is $3.20 for 4 pieces (80 cents each) whereas at Haig road is $2.50 for 5 pieces (50 cents each). And quality wise, over here at East Village, the fillings of gula melaka and brown coconut is very little. What's the purpose of having a beautiful box with higher price, less quantity (4 piece instead of 5), lesser fillings of gula melaka and lost in taste and quality. I would rather travel further to the original store with better quality and...

I am very disappointed and angry with the staff at Century Square outlet. It's not my first time being rejected with the same makcik when everytime i wanted to order chocolate putu piring she will give an attitude by saying have to wait coz its long or she will reply chocolate? with unhappy face. The worst that happened was yesterday (27/08 4pm) when i came to order chocolate putu piring again, they were having lunch and told me chocolate have to wait and to come back at 430pm as they are having their break. Like why exactly you put Chocolate in the menu when your staff is unwilling to sell it to your customers? and because of that it turns me off and i don't even want to wait or eat it anymore from this shop because of this attitude given by your staff. Pls educate this makcik to stop rejecting the customers when we want to order chocolate from the menu given. If she don't want to do chocolate, just remove it from the menu. I hope when I come back this attitude...
