Muted. Gelato — Restaurant in Singapore

𝙈𝙐𝙏𝙀𝘿. 𝙂𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙤 is the newest kid on the block to enter the dessert scene in the Jalan Besar region. Yet, they’ve already been making waves for their superb gelato and lovely vibes. 🌊 We were so curious, we had to head down and try for ourselves!

With an interior that takes on a uniform scheme, best described as a limewashed muted peach, it was a quiet and pleasant welcome into the store. 😌🎐The friendly staff recommended two of their most popular flavours:

The 𝗨𝗷𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗮 🍵, made with ceremonial grade matcha, was just SO umami. When we saw that they even put a lid on to prevent oxidation, we knew this had to be legit. 🤌🏻 Matcha gelato isn't the easiest to get right, but boy they went above and beyond our expectations! The colour was vibrant green 💚 but not artificial, and the matcha notes were so 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 ✨🤯 that it’s on par with if not better than the top matcha gelatos in SG (our long time followers will know what we’re talking abt). This was such a solid execution! 👍🏻👍🏻

The moment we sampled the second flavour, we knew we had to get a scoop. Their 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗿𝗮 🫖🌸 sounded and tasted really unique - the earl grey was not overpowering, instead letting the 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗿𝗮 🌸🧖‍♀️ shine through! This is a flavour that has you going back for spoon after spoon. Later on, we started tasting undertones of something alike to yakult/vitagen and we loved it. 🫶🏻

“𝙖 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨” is Muted Gelato’s cute theme for their gelato flavours. With 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♂️ their effort to create novel and natural gelato flavours is truly admirable 🤩 We’ll be back for their Soy Gula Melaka and Roasted Hojicha, and perhaps their Waffles as well! 🧇

🟡 Muted Gelato 🟦 221 Lavender Street, Singapore 338774

● I’ve visited Muted Gelato a few times since this sleek creamery opened in 2023, and it has become one of my favourite late-night spots for a sweet treat. 🟡 The cafe opens till midnight, which makes it really popular with youngsters and night owls like me.

⬛️ Sometimes my hubby and I would drive over late at night just to enjoy a quick gelato fix. ▪︎We’ve tried the Affogato, Pistachio, and Chocolate gelato — all of which were excellent.

🟨 The gelato here is smooth, creamy, and dense with flavours that are well balanced and not overly sweet. You can really taste the care and passion behind these handcrafted scoops.

🟫 The interior has a clean, minimalist vibe with plain off-white walls, and a neutral palette of white, black, and soft cream tones. There’s something calming about the understated decor — simple furniture, warm ambient lighting, and a layout that feels airy and cosy at the same time.

☑️ Service has always been friendly and efficient. During off-peak hours, the cafe is tranquil and quiet — great if you prefer a peaceful spot to unwind with a good gelato

This place is located along the main road, which makes it easy to find, but difficult to get parking. We had to turn into one of the smaller roads behind to find parking.

The place isn't big, so there are limited tables and seats, and they're relatively close together. It's kept clean and the staff were quick to wipe down any tables once they become vacant. However, when it gets crowded, especially on a weekend evening, it gets extremely noisy. The sound is trapped due to the room acoustics in a closed space.

Their selection of ice cream flavours isn't plentiful, and they were leaning towards the hokkaido flavours. We ordered the dark chocolate sorbet and hokkaido cookies, with buttermilk waffles.

The waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, while the ice cream flavours went very well with it. Definitely worth coming back again for the ice cream and waffles.

We didn't get any maple syrup with the waffles, but we didn't ask for it either. So I'm not sure if it's an add on or they just don't provide it.

Note: if you don't like the icing on waffle, remember to inform the staff to exclude it. We forgot and the amount of icing on the waffle was almost...
