[Edit post restaurant's reply: They did not clearly state any dining limits anywhere on the menu or their shopfront. So no clear communication to diners beforehand. I was in fact, following their instagram for years which i reiterated in my review below. And i showed my follower status to the cashier after payment so i can get my icecream on the way out, only to be stopped by another staff. ]

Visited 8 May dinner time, first few in line and got seated right on the dot at 6pm opening. Restaurant was

As a returning customer, I have always enjoyed dining at this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience today was a bit disappointing.

We arrived around 9:10 PM and were seated upstairs, understanding that we were coming after the usual dinner rush. Both the main entrance downstairs and the glass door upstairs clearly indicated that the restaurant closes at 11:30 PM, with the last orders being taken at 11:00 PM.

However, we were not informed that the upstairs area actually closes at 10:00 PM, with the last orders being taken at 9:30 PM. We placed our order at 9:13 PM for one main course each, a shared dish, a side, and drinks.

Around 9:30 PM-9:40 PM, a staff member came by to ask for our last order and to settle the bill, which felt a bit early, but we didn't want to make a fuss at the time.

By 10:00 PM, while we were still enjoying our meal (the last main course was served at 9:33 PM), the music suddenly stopped, and another staff member kindly informed us that the restaurant was closing and we needed to leave. We rushed to finish our food and drinks, which made the experience feel a bit uncomfortable, especially as we hadn't been informed earlier about the early closure.

What was most confusing was that there was no indication of the earlier closing time on either of the doors. Although the closing time on both doors was confirmed as 11:30 PM, we were not made aware that the upstairs area had a different closing time.

I hope the management can consider updating the signage and better communicate these policies to avoid confusion for future guests. While I understand this could have been an honest mistake given the dinner rush, I do hope this can be improved...

Staff are all very nice. The korean oppa who was taking care of people in the queue came to inform me how much time i have to wait. He also cooked for us initially. The char was just nice. The next table was making so much noise, this oppa went to ask them nicely to lower their volume as it's affecting other diners. We didn't even have to tell him. He also changed to mesh when cooking the beef short rib. There is a little metal tray to hold the cooked meats so they are not over done on the stove.

Service is great. I could see that the company invested in training the staff, which is not an easy feat in the climate where everything is increasing in price, including staff salary.

Later on, another staff cooked the intestines (which is a rare find in local Korean eateries). He asked if we wanted it more crispy. He measured the temperature of the hot plate before putting the food on it, making sure it's properly cooked. He waited to the right temperature and did not rush through it. He also brought a torch to torch the food so it's more crispy, as we prefer.

All staff were polite, welcoming, and very professional. I observed that all staff carry a temperature gun with them. I've never seen that at other korean restaurants.

There were also free ice cream (to be taken away) and candies and mouth wash to make the visit a more pleasant one.

Food quality is excellent. Marinated pork collar was very good. Cooked just nice. Beef short ribs were very tender. The banchan were interesting and not too common ones.

The restaurant isn't too smelly nor oily for a korean bbq place.

It isn't cheap but for the service and quality of food, it's ok!

Highly recommend and we...

Endured more than an hour-long wait but was worth it. Though what I didn't understand about the queue is that we were asked to wait for 15 minutes and then it became more than 30 minutes. I am not sure if the one who manages the queue was tired or what. But so many groups are coming in and and I kept checking the status of my queue and it always says 1 group ahead of us. But every time someone comes in, we are never called so we ended up waiting longer. Minus one for service because of this. I do understand that we were late for around 5 minutes as we didn't here the call for the waitlist but he shouldn't have told us to wait for a certain amount and not be able to deliver it for us. But overall, experiencing the wait firsthand, I finally get why there's a line for this spot. Meat was succulent and the rice balls are absolutely explosive in flavour. The must order from their menu. We didn't get to try jjajang coz it was a bit too much for 2 pax already. The variety and generous portions of side dishes were plenty to satisfy me, so no need to go overboard with the ordering just like we did. Lesson learned. 😅 I am actually already very contented with just their side dishes. The service was also very fast and genuine. You can really feel that the staff are accommodating you depsite the busy schedule. They are very attentive and cooks the food for you very well.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Obba BBQ & Jjangjang and I must say, it was rather lovely. As soon as my wife and I walked in, we were greeted with a lively and vibrant ambiance that truly set the tone for the night. One of the things that truly stood out was the exceptional quality of the meat. It was of the highest quality and the preparation was simply perfect. Every bite was a delight and the flavors were incredibly delicious. We particularly enjoyed the marinated pork, which were both cooked to perfection. The side dishes were also noteworthy. The Kimchi, pickled vegetables, and seaweed were all tasty and complemented the meat very well. However, we noticed that the waiter could have been a little more attentive in topping up the side dishes, as we had to ask a couple of times for refills. Another small issue we encountered was that it may be a little pricey for some customers, but we thought it was worth it for the quality of the food and the overall experience. Additionally, it was quite chilly where we were seated, but it was completely packed out so we had no choice but to eat fast 💨 before we got frozen… 😆 Nevertheless, it was a good place to eat and hang. Pity it has a 90 min restriction and queues start from 5.30pm easily so come much earlier if you don’t want to wait.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Mr Kang Soon Seong for the attentive service he provided throughout the night. It was a busy evening when my friends and I dined there, and I could tell he was juggling a lot — rushing between tables to assist with orders, grilling, and still managing the team. Despite the pace, what stood out to me was his genuine attentiveness. At one point, I was near the sink area for a while, and he paused to check in, concerned I might not be feeling well.. especially since I was the only woman in a group of guys and had been drinking. That small moment of care really stayed with me. Yes, food was good, atmosphere was not bad, but it was the service that clearly left a lasting impression and we will be back. He didn’t have to say much, but it was clear he was doing more than just his job despite being so busy... he was looking out for his guests. Staff like Mr Kang are rare, and his company is fortunate to have someone like him on their team. Again, 감사합니다 Mr. Kang!!!
