[Edit post restaurant's reply: They did not clearly state any dining limits anywhere on the menu or their shopfront. So no clear communication to diners beforehand. I was in fact, following their instagram for years which i reiterated in my review below. And i showed my follower status to the cashier after payment so i can get my icecream on the way out, only to be stopped by another staff. ]
Visited 8 May dinner time, first few in line and got seated right on the dot at 6pm opening. Restaurant was
Read moreAs a returning customer, I have always enjoyed dining at this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience today was a bit disappointing.
We arrived around 9:10 PM and were seated upstairs, understanding that we were coming after the usual dinner rush. Both the main entrance downstairs and the glass door upstairs clearly indicated that the restaurant closes at 11:30 PM, with the last orders being taken at 11:00 PM.
However, we were not informed that the upstairs area actually closes at 10:00 PM, with the last orders being taken at 9:30 PM. We placed our order at 9:13 PM for one main course each, a shared dish, a side, and drinks.
Around 9:30 PM-9:40 PM, a staff member came by to ask for our last order and to settle the bill, which felt a bit early, but we didn't want to make a fuss at the time.
By 10:00 PM, while we were still enjoying our meal (the last main course was served at 9:33 PM), the music suddenly stopped, and another staff member kindly informed us that the restaurant was closing and we needed to leave. We rushed to finish our food and drinks, which made the experience feel a bit uncomfortable, especially as we hadn't been informed earlier about the early closure.
What was most confusing was that there was no indication of the earlier closing time on either of the doors. Although the closing time on both doors was confirmed as 11:30 PM, we were not made aware that the upstairs area had a different closing time.
I hope the management can consider updating the signage and better communicate these policies to avoid confusion for future guests. While I understand this could have been an honest mistake given the dinner rush, I do hope this can be improved...
Read moreStaff are all very nice. The korean oppa who was taking care of people in the queue came to inform me how much time i have to wait. He also cooked for us initially. The char was just nice. The next table was making so much noise, this oppa went to ask them nicely to lower their volume as it's affecting other diners. We didn't even have to tell him. He also changed to mesh when cooking the beef short rib. There is a little metal tray to hold the cooked meats so they are not over done on the stove.
Service is great. I could see that the company invested in training the staff, which is not an easy feat in the climate where everything is increasing in price, including staff salary.
Later on, another staff cooked the intestines (which is a rare find in local Korean eateries). He asked if we wanted it more crispy. He measured the temperature of the hot plate before putting the food on it, making sure it's properly cooked. He waited to the right temperature and did not rush through it. He also brought a torch to torch the food so it's more crispy, as we prefer.
All staff were polite, welcoming, and very professional. I observed that all staff carry a temperature gun with them. I've never seen that at other korean restaurants.
There were also free ice cream (to be taken away) and candies and mouth wash to make the visit a more pleasant one.
Food quality is excellent. Marinated pork collar was very good. Cooked just nice. Beef short ribs were very tender. The banchan were interesting and not too common ones.
The restaurant isn't too smelly nor oily for a korean bbq place.
It isn't cheap but for the service and quality of food, it's ok!
Highly recommend and we...
