cute old school-ish bakery cafe in BTP. was seduced by the tantalising array of baked goodies in the display case so got a few to try. general quality is high. best ever banana cake ($2.80?) - was good but didn't live up to its "best ever" name imo. texture wise, this sits somewhere between hiap joo's fluffy light style and denser angmo type of banana bread. banana taste is palpable but could have been stronger. i enjoyed it, but i have had better banana cake elsewhere, even at this price point. carrot cake ($3.80) - moist, similar texture to the banana cake. slathered with a thin layer of sweet icing sugar / cream cheese just the way i like my carrot cake blueberry scone ($3?) - this is a lighter more crumbly version compared to the typical compact gummier angmo style. could taste the butteriness, even better after heating up egg foccacia ($3?) - huge slice of bread topped with generous amount of egg mayo and cheese. unfortunately i couldn't taste the focaccia herbs and i was disappointed by how the bread had become mushy/soggy since foccacia is meant to be light and crispy iced kopi o kosong was very good tho, albeit on the pricey side ($3.30). it was strong and aromatic without bitterness. i was also very impressed by the crema on the hot kopis that other patrons were having while i was waiting for my order. tldr, this makes for a great breakfast / tea break if u r in the area, especially if u like variety. western baked goods with a local neighbourhood spin on them, i like it! price point is also welcoming too. will definitely be back to try their hot coffee and their famous mjk (didn't order their mjk this time round as im generally not a fan of mjk and partial to cakes and scones and bread)

Located at Bukit Timah Plaza, this shop sells Man Jian Guo or Pancakes and cakes. Bought a piece of traditional pancake and a coffee plus two pieces of Earl Grey Cakes and Banana Cake. The pancake was full of peanut flavour coming from the abundant peanut filling in between. Not too sweet and slightly chewy, each bite was a delight. And the coffee was legit robust, quite a good pick me up to combat food coma after lunch. Ate the Earl grey cakes and banana cakes for breakfast the next day. The earl grey with cheese frosting was fantastic after you reheat. Otherwise it’s a little dry coming out of the fridge. Banana cake was quite normal. I think I’ll go back for more coffee and pancakes especially during a lazy afternoon.

I walked past Pancake King after lunch and decided to give it a try. I bought 2 peanut pancakes, 2 peanut paste pancakes, and 2 black sesame paste pancakes, totaling over $12. Unfortunately, the taste did not live up to the name. The peanut paste was barely there, and the pancake texture was super soggy inside. The black sesame was slightly better, and the peanut pancake was the best of the three, but still not impressive. I've had better pancakes elsewhere. Maybe they’re better at other pastries, not sure but I won’t be returning for their pancakes definitely.

To the owner: Your food items have always been a delight. They are consistent with adequate filling at least for what we usually consume.

I would like to bring a very important matter to light. The coffees you serve are satisfying and perfectly balanced when made by the taller lady while the shorter lady's coffee pales greatly in comparison. It lacks the right extraction, balance and sweetness.

I don't know if she's currently under training but if so, please do ensure that she matches up to the original standard before having her on barista duties. This is not just my opinion but many of my friends too. I would like to see you guys continue to do well but this coffee issue has to be settled.

I am giving a 4 stars based on how good I know it can be when made by the right person. The coffees made by the other lady would otherwise command a...

*Edit: Increased 1 star because owner did investigate and apologise.

Original Post: Refused to tell us how long our 1 miserly slice of peanut pancake will take to serve after we paid and enquired multiple times over the course of 20 mins, but served said peanut pancake to half a dozen customers after us in the same period. With my patience wearing very very thin when they served another walk-in customer the last piece of peanut pancake right in front of me standing right in their face, I asked them why did they skip my order. All 4 ladies refused to respond and finally after some pressure one finally said another 10 mins. 30 mins for a peanut pancake, seriously?!? Blatant discrimination, humongous mess of an operation and not a single word of...
