The person taking the order wasn't very honest. I ordered Carbonara and pointed out the menu and he took note of it.
The order came, and there was a huge portion of spaghetti and I ate it without any suspect.
When I went to the counter, I was surprised by the charges that came up to 40 sgd and I thought there was a miscalculation.
Upon checking the menu, it turns out the item I ordered was a junior meal and the person assumed I wanted an adult portion and went ahead to take note.
I explained to the cashier that I ordered carbonara junior which cost 14 Instead of apologising he explained ' but that's the junior me'.
Just my opinion : Person taking the order wasn't honest, despite showing him the menu on what I had ordered he did not make any correction and should have pointed to me that's a junior meal instead of auto assuming that I would take the adult portion. He could have manage my expectations onset. Secondly , I am on a low carb diet, portion was very big ,huge amount of spaghetti, so the cashier assumption that I could possibly finished the portion that an adult could instead of a junior portion was another assumption and I felt he was insensitive in handling the situation by assumption, it doesn't take away the fact that the person prior taking the order mishandled it as well. Lastly price and worth, you get one huge dish filled with spaghetti costing close to 32 Sgd, this is definitely overpriced, this include gst charge and service charges. Whether you can finish the dish or not the oners is on the consumer. The total amounting to a staggering 40 sgd together with a flat white. Be careful going back to the restaurant as they aren't about being honest, they will take advantage of little loop holes and read the menu carefully. Yes one good thing, atmosphere, environment near the sea view. But that's about it. I am disappointed with the service and how the restaurant portion food and price. I feel they are going to loose customers if they continue this way. Service wise, 4 people in the restaurant, person not attending the floor. I had to go to the server to have my coffee served after lunch.
Edit Adding on to what you have mentioned about portion for children. I think that not the point, correcting expectations is at the right moment is rather than assumption. I would like to mention about portion, that the spaghetti is easily half packet size. Even the most expensive angel spaghetti (500-600g) from Italy cost $4.50 from cold storage. Half packet size is at most $2.50. Unless you are talking about handmade spaghetti on spot.
Half a packet is about 2 size portion for an adult and for 1 packet you can cook for 4 adults. Most of your diners cook and do grocery too. Even with a great atmosphere, consideration on food has still to be reasonably portion and priced as that is your...

We called ahead to reserve a table and told the lady on the line that we would arrive in 40 minutes—she confirmed our reservation.
Upon arrival, a queue had already formed. We could hear the manager handling the queue and assigning them seats. The manager was a tall, Chinese dude who wore spectacles and a blue/black shirt. The other waiters were wearing white. He told a couple of groups in front that they were full-house tonight and to a certain group that they were "lucky enough to even have a table tonight" in a condescending tone.
When it was our turn, we provided our reservation name. However, the manager immediately dismissed us, saying, “No, I don’t see your name on the list,” in a way that made it seem like we were trying to pull a fast one, as though we were trying to get a table without a reservation. He then revealed that he had "sent a picture of the full-house reservation and waiting list to the concierge,” referring to the packed restaurant as proof that no more tables were available (I have no clue why he referred to the online reservation as 'concierge'; it is not even a hotel). We were already next in line so we just asked what tables were available.
He offered outdoor seats promising to move us inside when a table became available, so we agreed to sit outside. However, when two tables inside cleared, we stood at the entrance to ask him about the tables. When we asked, he shouted “I already told you, when there is a next available table, I will let you know.”, in a loud condescending manner. He ushered those two tables to the walk-ins instead. Frustrated by the attitude and lack of professionalism, we left to eat at another restaurant somewhere nearby.
The way this manager handled the situation was completely unprofessional. He clearly couldn’t handle stress and took the wrong approach by talking down to customers instead of trying to resolve the issue. Vented his frustration about the miscommunication with the staff member who took our reservation is an internal problem that customers should not take the blame for—we made the reservation. A simple “Let me see what I can do.” would have been far more appropriate than being dismissive and defensive. Worse, he didn’t stick to his word about moving us inside when a table opened up. At a well-known establishment like P.S. Cafe, this manager in his position should know how to manage situations calmly and professionally, not make customers...
Read moreWas at PS Cafe East Coast yesterday evening, 19 Jul 2024 and had made a reservation prior to our arrival. When we arrived slightly earlier than expected, we were warmly greeted by a friendly lady waitress who quickly saw us to our table.
En-route to our table, a malay/Indian man (dressed in a dark blue shirt, supposedly a supervisor of sorts) stopped her to say that our “original” table was occupied, to which she quickly replied she was bringing us to another table (the restaurant wasn’t full). The Malay/Indian man was clearly unhappy we had arrived earlier.
After we were seated down, the above mentioned Indian/Malay man came by to (again) reiterate “you came early? You were supposed to be seated at THAT table points, not here”, and walked away.
After we ordered, this Indian/malay man came over to tell us “we have another seating for this table (in 1hr)” - at this point we were stunned, there was no mention at all about dining limit when we made the reservation, and nothing was said when we were seated at our seats. Why suddenly impose a dining limit, when the restaurant wasn’t even full?
15mins to our “1 hr limit”, this said Indian/malay man in a shirt (supposedly a supervisor of sorts?) came over to (again) tell us “we need the table back by 7.30pm”.
We were so annoyed at this point we just left our dessert, paid our bill and walked out.
This Indian/Malay man needs some retraining and more customer servicing.

Update (in response to their reply, since I can’t respond to their reply): Hi, thanks for the reply. Not sure if you are referring to another table, as I was at work at 4pm and definitely could not have been at East Coast. We arrived at 6.20pm, for our reservation which was at 7.00pm (not the 1.5hrs earlier that you claim we arrived).
When we entered, the restaurant was not full, and there were aplenty tables for your staff to allocate. If my table slot had been blocked for 1.5hrs from 7.00pm, why did you have to have the table back at 7.30pm? Shouldn’t the slot have been booked for until 8.30pm? Why is there now an “updated” time limit? That simply doesn’t make any sense.
In any case, 6.20pm (when we seated down) to 7.30pm is not even a 1.5hrs dining time - but yet they incessantly wanted us...
