was walking around the club premises at about 230pm today after lunch (at the la pizzeria, which had pretty decent food), when I witnessed a tanned stout middle aged man bullying an elderly couple (at least 70 years old) who were just strolling around (outside) the gates leading to the yachts.
the man was standing on the inside of the gates, so presumably, he was either a staff member or a club member.
when the elderly couple walked by (with no discernable intent to sneak in through the gates, but probably looking in out of curiousity), the man asked in a loud bullying/hectoring voice something to the effect of "you don't have a yacht right? you are not allowed in here".
it was particularly abhorrent that he used that tone and volume of voice, and assumed that everybody just looking in could not afford a yacht but wanted to sneak in for whatever reason.
what made matters worse was the obsequious manner in which he spoke with a family that was just walking out of the gates (so presumably they were club members) just after he had told off the elderly couple.
I would have confronted him on his bad behaviour because I was close enough to witness the exchange, but I could tell that the elderly couple did not want to create a scene because they quickly reassured the man that they were just taking a stroll and quickly walked off elsewhere.
perhaps they have experienced enough of such bad behaviour in their lives to take all of this in their strides...
nonetheless, I think it is just not right for anybody to speak with anybody else (especially an elderly couple) in that bullying and condescending manner - if the man was a staff member, he ought to be severely reprimanded at the least, but if the man was a club member, it makes me glad that I'm not a member...

I recently had a staycation at the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club. Overall, the experience was pleasant and most of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I would especially like to compliment the executive(Indian Guy) at the check-in counter who was exceptionally polite and professional great customer service.
However, I did encounter a few disappointments during my stay. One of them involved a female staff member at the counter who spoke in a manner that felt abrupt and lacking in basic courtesy. Frankly, even staff at supermarkets like Sheng Siong display better customer service and warmth in their communication.
More concerning was an incident that occurred on 19 July 2025 between 8:30pm and 9:00pm. As we returned to the hotel, my husband was pushing our baby in a pram. An elderly Chinese security personnel on duty saw us approaching the barrier but made no effort to assist or acknowledge us. He simply stood there with an unfriendly expression and offered no help, unlike the other staff members who had been consistently courteous and attentive.
I hope the management will look into these issues and provide further training to ensure all staff uphold the same standards of professionalism and empathy especially towards families with young children.
Lastly, We did not stay there for free we paid for our stay. But we certainly did not pay to be treated with bad attitude or poor service. I hope the management will take this seriously and ensure that all staff maintain consistent professionalism, respect, and empathy, especially towards families with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI appreciate that the room was very clean and comfortable, which made my stay pleasant. I encountered an issue during my checkout on 17/2 at 7:00 AM. Unfortunately, there was no receptionist at the front desk, and despite waiting for over 10 minutes, no staff member arrived to assist us. When we asked a laundry staff member for help, we were simply told, āShe just came,ā yet we continued waiting with no assistance.
As we were in a hurry to leave, this delay was highly inconvenient, especially since the hotel retained our deposit and parking coupon. Eventually, we had to seek help from a restaurant staff member, who kindly called the receptionist and go to laundry room to find her for us. When the receptionist finally arrived at 7:10am, I asked how urgent checkouts should be handled, and she advised us to inform the guard. However, when we went to the guardhouse, there was no guard present.
This experience was frustrating and unprofessional. If the hotel cannot provide 24-hour reception service, I strongly suggest reconsidering policies such as holding deposits and issuing parking coupons that require front desk assistance for check-out. This would ensure a smoother experience for guests with early departures.
Second, the walkway from the lift to the reception counter was extremely dark, making it uncomfortable and even unsafe for guests, especially early in the morning or late at night. Better lighting in this area would greatly improve the guest experience.
I hope your management will take this feedback seriously and improve the service to prevent similar inconveniences for...
