Tried Mookata in Msia but never in Sg, so attempted this shop in TPY. We chose it bcos it has aircond. With hot weather, cant really eat mookata while sweating away. Arrive at the resto, as expected, quite full of people, when the door open, feel very nlosy n very crowded, bcos it is aircond and enclose space, so it is also expected. After sat down, the ears kinda numb and dont feel noisy alrdy bcos we start to be focus on order and food. Alacart is minimum order 10 plates Buffet is 32++ per person Veges are $2, simple meat are $2.6, more expensive ones are $3.6, and some high class ones like cumin mutton was $4.4 which it is highlighted grey (it means not included in buffet, must pay separately) We decided to go with buffet since it is our first time there, and partner was dem hungry. Food arrive almost immediately, hot pot was sufficiently hot and cook quite fast for the thin slices of meat. I think becos there is only 2 of us sharing the pot, we felt the speed of cooking was quite fast, it matches our speed of eating. After ordering one round of food, we were alrdy full. But we thought wanna try some other dishes so we ordered 2nd round. Overall, the food satisfy us, pretty fresh and well marinated for a mookata. The sauces there are 4 types, special sauce, mild spicy, medium spicy and very spicy. There are also garlic, chopped chili and coriander, fish sauce, soya sauce that u can mix and match urself. Overall we prefer the garlic coriander plus fish soya sauce. The pre-mix sauce felt a little not thai-ish enough 😅 i rembr there is a sauce in Msia one that i tried, super fragrant, with some lemon grass n some herb, light, refreshing n appetizing at the same time not too spicy, just right as a dip for meat slices. Waiters were very attentive and smiling when dealing with us. Some of the dishes we like are smoke duck, teriyaki chicken, abalone slices, cumin mutton, prawns and prawn paste, pork collar (but fats layer a bit thick 😅), most happily, we love the variety of green leafy vege n mushrooms. Only the fish dumpling not to our taste (abit dry chewy). We ended our meal with coconut ice cream and choco mint which were both refreshing. Overall, we were happy to dine there, and will definitely come back. We thought the buffet was worth it bcos we really ate alot. If just wanna have a small meal, ala cart would be better. All in all, we will surely be back. Bcos having AC during Mookata is...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with the older male service staff who seem to be the manager or the head waiter. We've been to other outlets of this mookata place, never had a problem.
There were 3 of us. Problem started when we ordered 2 drinks. 1 can drink and 1 green milk tea. The service staff came back, placed 2 green milk teas and 1 can drink and left immediately. I called him immediately to tell him we only ordered 1 milk tea as my other friend didn't want a drink. The staff must have mistaken that we asked for 2. When he heard we didn't want that additional drink, he gave a bitter expression. Didn't stop there, he picked the drink and kept staring directly at me angrily while walking away. He didn't turn away, kept staring!
I was already taken aback. If it wasn't a mookata place, we could have accepted the additional drink. As we were gonna eat lots, we didn't wanna drink much.
As the day went by, he didn't come to our table anymore. Other service staff did. When we were gonna pay, that same male service staff was at the cashier! With an annoyed face, he keyed in our table number in the system and didn't say a word. The screen showed how much it cost us. I didn't wanna read the entire thing as the price pretty much sounded ok for the amount we had! AND as he seemed intimidating, I didn't wanna interact any longer than needed. Paid and left immediately.
When we got further, my friends asked for the price as they wanted to pay me their share. To my surprise, the restaurant charged us the milk tea which we didn't even order or consumed!!! That drink cost $3! How petty are you guys that you cannot even accept the mistake that you made? And we informed you immediately when you served us! Also it's not like we ordered little food. We ordered $80 worth!
So disappointed with the attitude of that one particular staff! We're posting this just 1 day after we patronised the place. If he gets to see this, he should know we were polite with him. No reason to act and treat your paying customers in this way! It's not about the money, it's about...
Read moreHad been here a few times before deciding to drop a review for them. The place is clean and well ventilated !
Most of the time we are here on weekend afternoon, slightly less crowded compare to night timing. There's aircon, so no issue even if you crave for mooks during lunch Be sure to drink more water mannnnnn
Staffs are friendly, but tends to get a little busy. So do give them more time for the preparation of your orders, or additional orders.
There's two type of choice for this mooks i believe. Buffet Style or Ala-Carte.
Most of the time, we will opt for Ala-Carte. Each plate range starting from $2.00 , if i didnt remember wrongly. On the pricey side, but for the location & air-con , acceptable la.
Love their minced pork & bacon cheese ~ The rest are good too, but personally skip black pepper, too heavy for me. But teriyaki pork belly is great !
There's also FOC ice cream for you, just help yourself to it. Great fix for midnight cravings, open till 2am .
One pointers for all customers, do take note yourself on what you have ordered and no. of orders. Although as the usual practice, at most mooks, they will combine your no. of quantity into the same plate/bowl, sometimes there's still a few missed/overlooked orders. So if in any doubts do ask them, they are nice people so dont worry. At times, it happens to be a missed for our favourite meat, so we tend to realise.. Hahah, else i think its easy to overlook for everyone, too much selections too much orders. Just whack all the...
