For the price, it's a decent place to have a shabu-shabu. Staff was friendly and guided us through their process and cleared the empty plates away quickly. Food came quite fast too, though there was a little bit of mix up on the second round (we just ate the food). The sashimi they had wasn't so good, felt like low grade stuff, but what did you expect? Tables a little close to each other, and the staff put all of us in front (back was empty), maybe didn't want to clean up multiple places. Their shitake / enoki mushrooms, "wagyu" beef, fish paste, duck and chicken cheese balls were good. Spent about $100 for two pax on their premium menu after adding in free flow drinks n frozen yogurt.

Terrible and horrible service! This is the worst service I ever encounter in my life! Terrible service begins since we step in to the restaurant. The lady who direct us to the seat who name: SOFI (if I’m not wrong) keep pushing us to quickly place the order and select the soup base for our hot pot. We actually choose 3 diff soup base since everyone is entitled to have 1 pot of soup selection, but She keep saying in the very loud tone that 3 person share 2 soup can already..blah blah blah… During the meal, we ordered the meal through the QR system but not all the items came and the portion are pretty small even if you choose 3 portions at the same time especially we place an Ala carte Coke that were shown in the check worth of $5.50 taken up forever but never serve!! 30mins later we check with the lady again, but there she mentioned they don’t sell ala carte Coke but it did appear in the system where after we place the order earlier on…Poor system and wrong information were given again!! She even asked another fat guy to come and tell us they don’t sell ala carte COKE!! But why the hack is appearing in the system in the first place….!!??? Throughout the meal, not even a single server passed by. And finally we managed to called SOFI. our request is to refill the soup but is being rejected by her. She replies that the soup will become very very salty if we refill more soup!! Hello! Where’s the common sense??? Nevertheless, wasn’t even full at the end of the meal. Most of the time spent was waiting for items, or waiting for a waiter to appear..!! The most irritating part was before end of the meal. SOFI came and shouted and yell on us saying that they are doing final order. She keep repeating herself that ALL the foods you all have to finish it! If not there will be penalties!! The foods that we ordered compared to the food that being served are totally different in portion..!!! Not even half full throughout the meal and still have to deal with this SOFI…OMG!! Overall, it’s really a frustrating time and our day are totally spoiled!!! We still paid approx $50++ per pax. This is a total disaster which I won’t recommend to anyone and visit at your own risk!! I’m demanding for a reply from the management of the restaurant and hope the management will look into the matters and TAKE the necessary action! Will definitely write in an email to the highest management!! (Will rate lower than 1 star if I could!!!!

I was here for their 1 for 1 lunch promotion. What disappointed me here was how it was marketed as a 1 for 1, but strangely there were quite a number of things that I didn't know, and wasn't informed until I was eating. Firstly, I really loved coming sukiya because of the fresh eggs they have that I always used as a dipping sauce. Yet, when I went over to the food counters, I found no eggs anywhere. When I checked with the staff, apparently they charge $1 for each egg, which used to be part of the buffet price and given there were many other confused customers asking the same questions I assume that this is not the norm for the other outlets, and perhaps applies only to this "1 for 1 promo" since I still see egg listed as supposedly part of the buffet in the disposable menu on all the tables. Not only that, a good half of the ingredients listed in the meatballs/seafood section was unavailable. Only seafood tofu and below, which seems to be the less popular options were available, spammed in multiple trays of the same products as seen in the photo as shown. As a customer, I feel quite cheated since I thought this is the normal buffet since they charged it as such, but with a 1 for 1 "promo". Turns out its done by cutting out ingredients from the buffet and applying extra charges, even with compulsory drink purchase. Effective marketing to get customers given I waited for 30 min just to get in, but in my opinion very deceiving for what you pay. Sukiya is great food wise, but perhaps not this outlet that resorts to such tactics in the future.

To me, service is of foremost importance but probably the staff are upset that they had to work on the second day of CNY, the service was definitely lacking, no smiles and replies for requests were curt and lack lustre. No warmth nor hospitality. 😞 Thankfully the food served was good! The Shabu Shabu meats were fresh, thinly sliced and there was a variety. The garlic rice was heavenly, definitely makes one go for seconds. Thankfully, the rice bowls can be used as sauce dish. I prefer this to the compartmentalised sauce dish. There is free flow of drinks included on the buffet price. It’s a pity they don’t serve ice cream for dessert.

I have been to Suki ya many times. Came here solo to treat myself and to unwind. Was pleasantly surprised to have Phillip who is deaf who served me. He was really good at his customer service. Very attentive to all tables and meticulous when he is cleaning and setting up for new tables. I noticed he even lifted up the heating board to wipe the sides below that were a little dirty. He’s a conscientious worker and I am glad to see sukiya being inclusive of people with disabilities. He’s the best service staff I ever encountered here over my years of coming here frequently. :) please give him my compliments!

This is probably my third time here. And you may ask why. Well, because it is one of my favorite hotpot restaurants in town. Why am I only writing a review now? Because I was so engrossed in my hotpot in the past that I always forgot to take pictures. Haha. The restaurant is clean, the meats and vegetables are fresh, there is a good selection of condiments, and the service is great. The music is not loud, so diners can have proper conversations. Nothing for me to complain about, really. The price is reasonable, and you don’t have to pay extra for the soup base and drinks. I will come back again soon!
