Located right outside the sixth avenue MRT station, the Living Cafe offers a unique dining experience with its casual yet vibrant atmosphere. The café's airy and open layout creates a refreshing ambiance, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a cup of their excellent coffee.
However, let's dive into the main course offerings. It's no secret that The Living Cafe's food can be on the pricier side, with an average main course costing around S$25.
During our visit, we decided to try their salmon burger, but to our surprise, it felt more like a slider. While the portion size left us craving for more, what really caught us off guard was the additional charges for condiments. We had to pay an extra S$3 for mayo and another S$3 for chili sauce. Then the sweet potato wedges didnât come with a dip as the dips are unhealthy to say the least.
It seemed like the café was discouraging the indulgence of unhealthy options by making them overly priced or not serving them at all. While this may serve as a deterrent, it was a bit disheartening to pay a premium for the condiments- something that is usually free at most fast food joints.
Moving on to the brighter side of our dining experience, we decided to try the poke bowl. It turned out to be a delightful choice, offering relatively better value for the money, though for that price the helping could be better. The freshness of the ingredients, combined with the colorful appearance, created a harmonious blend of textures, color and tastes. It was a satisfying and healthy option that left us feeling satisfied.
Lastly, we ventured into the realm of The Living Cafe's Chicken Indiana pizza. However, what we received was more like a whole-grain roti rather than a traditional pizza base. This healthier twist on a classic dish may not be what pizza enthusiasts expect, but it does cater to those seeking a guilt-free option. Despite the unconventional base, the flavors were still reasonable, and it provided a unique twist to the traditional pizza experience. I tried my luck by asking for Tabasco but was turned down. They did offer some chilli flakes which were hardly hot.
In conclusion, The Living Cafe offers a fun and quirky atmosphere, perfect for casual dining and socializing but with a fine dining price tag. While the food prices may be on the higher side, the café's focus on healthier options is evident. The poke bowl stood out as a great choice, showcasing the café's ability to provide a satisfying meal at a reasonable price. However, if you're expecting a traditional pizza experience, the Chicken Indiana pizza might not meet your expectations. It's all about embracing the café's philosophy of promoting a healthier lifestyle while enjoying a good meal. So, gather your friends, grab a cup of their excellent coffee, and embark on a unique dining adventure at The...
Read moreI live nearby and often pass this cafĂ© on my way to the MRT. Today, I had some extra time and decided to pop in. The place itself is lovelyâgreat atmosphere and a nice selection of food in the fridges. I chose an almond and orange cake with an orange juice. What I received, however, was disappointing beyond belief. The cake was dry and tasteless, not due to any special recipe, but simply because it wasnât fresh. You could tell by the way it was platedâone side looked passable, but the bottom clearly showed it had been sitting out for some time, drying up.
What shocked me even more was when the server brought my water and said, âIs the cake alright? Not too dry? Would you like some honey on it?â They knew they were serving me a stale cake, and rather than replacing it, they offered honey as a quick fix. Itâs like putting a bandage on a wooden leg! This kind of food should never have been served in the first place.
I stayed for 20 minutes, clearly not eating the cake, waiting to see if they would notice or respond. Nothing. They simply donât understand what good service means. I regret not checking reviews beforehand, and itâs amusing that the owner seems to spend more time replying to negative Google reviews than improving the cafĂ© by serving fresh food. Avoid this place at all costs.
Update on November 7, 2024:
I am shocked to read your response today about an incident from three weeks ago. My interactions with your staff on that day were minimal, as you could verify through CCTV if necessary. To clarify:
I did not express dissatisfaction with the cake to your staff. Instead, your staff member asked me if it was dry when she brought me a glass of water. There was no mention of a refund or an exchange, only a suggestion to add honey on top! I never made any remark about cowâs milk, as I drink it myself and often visit establishments that cater to various dietary preferences. At no point did I make any disrespectful comments towards your staff, given that my only interaction was ordering a coffee (with cowâs milk) and a cake.
Please refrain from including untrue and misleading statements about this incident, which could have been handled with a straightforward approach.
Furthermore, avoid portraying customers who provide feedback as being disrespectful to your staff âa complete fabricationâ as this reflects poorly on your business and...
