The menu is very classically international with none of that fusion stuff to confuse the mind – so expect a pared-back, unpretentious affair when you’re here. Almost everything looks amazing and you will hear a lot about their macaroni and cheese if you come armed with pre-research – but word is their thin-crust pizzas will give that a run for its money too.
The Seafood Marinara was insanely satisfying. Squid ink pasta is used for a surprising transformation; with a really solid sauce that lends a very lovely and precise round-mouthed feel. We detected a hidden kick of chilli positively mingling in the midst; and it was really like being caught in two parallel universes of amazing here.
Unfortunately, the overpriced waffles ended up a disappointing end to an otherwise great dining experience. A half-waffle cost $10.80 – an extra $1 because we chose to have it in chocolate – a flavour I can assure you you will not taste. The ice cream is $5.50 per scoop – which might sound insane but was in all fairness, the only thing worth its price on that plate. Go for the double scoop at $8.80 if you’re considering the ice cream- it’s definitely more bang for your buck; and I mean, if you’re still getting the waffles after reading this, you might as well go all out. The gula melaka sauce (also worth its price) is $0.80 per serving.
Don’t get me wrong: all in all, it was actually a pretty decent waffle (even though it arrived cold) and the ice cream and Gula Melaka sauce was fab – but, like, hardly $17 worth of fab. There are mains less expensive than this waffle that are done twice as well. It’s cruel, because it leaves you wanting more but you’re most definitely not going to spend thirty odd dollars trying to piece together a...
Read moreThe food is really nice and plain water are promptly served when sitted, what more can you ask for hot humid climate like Singapore. You can see from the weekend crowd. It is a magnet for the 20s. I will suggest the all day breakfast as the weekend portion is different from weekday. My below picture is just French Toast for weekday. The fact is that you can customise the all day breakfast, like omelette or sunny side up, up to 4 options. If you don't like bacon like me can change to more eggs or mushrooms. I love the olive oil that is use, and the bread is sour dough on weekend.
There are plenty of parking on weekday or weekend. Those on foldie or bike, there are some unofficial areas you can park and chains.
There are outdoor and aircon sittings, the staffs and cooks are youngsters and the open kitchen you can see that they are really busy preparing your good food.
The restaurant does have some high chairs in the aircon and outdoor setting. Weekday lunch you can see some staffs from nearby Indian International School to patron the food and is less crowded vs weekends. Weekends brunch crowd is lesser after 2pm.
Good vibes, staff are attentive but if you need sauces and drinks refilled, you can only reach out to them, you can't self service.
The only thing I may not agrees is the pan use for serving the all day breakfast on weekend. It is make of aluminium and it has many scratches. I can be a little "over react" but I rather the the pans are good grade stainless steel or just good old porcelain as aluminium does affect our health if we have a large...
Read moreSecond visit after about a year, this time for dessert after having dinner nearby. It was not as crowded, but because we were seated on the verandah near the kids’ play area, it was noisy as they were throwing toys about.
We ordered the nutella banana bundt with Movenpick rum and raisin ice cream, as well as a slice of Earl Grey pound cake and a pot of Earl Grey tea.
The pound cake was delish and was served after being heated up a little, so it was moist and nice.
We did not really like the banana cake or ice cream, as both tasted slightly on the chemical side, perhaps due to the chocolate used.
Service was good and the young female waitstaff kindly brought us two iced waters.
———-
Popular brunch place on weekends, so much so they do not take reservations. Fortunately, we did not have to wait for a table. They have inside and ‘outside’ seating, under a well ventilated roof with fans.
We ordered the eggs benedict with a half waffle and thick cut bacon. The bacon was good, while the eggs were nice and runny with a lovely hollandaise sauce. The tiny portion of salad had a tad too much vinegariette and was a little sharp. Portions could have been better. The latte was okay, but the Italian lychee soda was a let down, with almost no taste.
They provide cups of water FOC.
The location is a dead end, next to the NPP, but there is ample...
