If you enjoy ready-to-eat roasted meats, this is one of those places which enables you to take away a feast on a budget. It is not a dine-in sort of place and you should see the long snaking queues leading up to their shop (as well as the neighbouring competitors') around the Lunar New Year. And the queue is crazy long because it wraps around the perimeter of the building and curls into the car park around the back. But it is an exciting experience watching the fired blaze as they prepare more food in front of your eyes. It is a hive of endless activity around then. (Yes, one year, I pre-ordered as they won't accept walk-ins on the CNY Eve. Was kinda awed by the experience.) The relatives were awed because I served up the duck which I deboned gingerly at home. (Admittedly, was terrified, initially, but at such times, a good cleaver is your friend.) They do a fine Roasted Duck, succulent Char Siew (pork cooked in the sweet red sauce), and enjoyable, tasty Sio Bak (roasted pork with the crispy crackling). You can, in ordinary times, request that they cut it up to your requirements. However, at the New Year season, this will not happen for the duck. (See above regarding snaking queue? It took me nearly an hour and a half to reach my turn and I went around mid-morning! Yes, am ignoring the 10 minutes it took me to find the end of the correct queue in the first place.) Roasted Suckling Pig is available all year around but it has to be pre-ordered. Only, I don't know if it will still retain the crunch... or for how long... in other words, have yet to try. Tempting... at around $118, I think? They do provide a fairly reasonable amount of sauces for the food. However, additional pouches or sachets of sauce (chilli or sweet sauce) can be purchased. (You may need the extras if you're providing for Chilli Fiends... i mean friends. 🤪) Today, bought half kg of Sio Bak ($12) and 1 Roasted Duck ($18). Apparently, they only sell the ducks whole. I tried asking for half a duck. No deal. Still... good eating for later, ya? Best part of today was... all the good food with no queue!

Wanna 加菜 upgrade your meal, Yan Chuan Roast Duck is our fam top fave, never say no 加菜 dish! 😋👍🏻 Nicely packed, find the yellow signboard/plastic bag as the whole stretched is selling Duck. While prices have increased quite a bit, but still the most value for $$ Roast Duck & Meat items that doesn’t burn your pocket, unlike elsewhere! 👍🏻 Tried their different flavoured Roast Duck but still prefer the original one. SUPER YUMM and very fast chopping service! 🦆👍🏻 Char Siew and Roast Meat are also great add-ons too! 🍖👍🏻 While Pipa Roast Duck was very flavourful, we felt the meat was drier. Might be because of the roasting method, when the duck is stretched open. You can also order their suckling pig here, tried and skin was crispy, meat nicely seasoned and juicy succulent! 🐖👍🏻 Note: Expect long queues as they are really famous. Esp during festive season, queues are neverending.

$24 for whole duck consider very cheap already, but in fact, this is CNY price, usual price only $18/duck, and year ago, they only sell it at $16 each (inflation is not joking😅) According to them, price will revert back after CNY days 10th. 🤞🏻 But Wow. That's Super cheap actually. Especially when we compared to famous duck stall at Serangoon North, or Kovan area which sell roasted whole duck at $43-45 each. Of course, this Yan Chuan is wholesaler, duck is big but taste is not fantastic, brest meat texture is quite dry, and taste not so aroma like those famous one. And chilli and source is quite little, they will charge 50¢ each if you want more. But nevertheless, by such low price, I can't ask for more. Duck is big, meat is still solid. Big enjoyment for such affordable price.

Great value for roast duck at $20. With voucher, it is $18. So far I have bought whole roast duck from Yan Chuan 3 times. Quite consistent in quality and taste. Above average tasting roast duck. Well marinated and meat is well seasoned. Skin was crispy. The accompanying hoisin sauce makes you think you are eating Peking Duck. I love the taste of the hoisin sauce from Yan Chuan! Ask for extras as 1 tiny tub is definitely not enough for a whole roast duck. In fact, I think Yan Chuan calls their roast duck as Roast Peking Duck in the restaurant/eatery at another location. Worth buying! Suckling pig requires 1 day advance order at $158 before last GST hike. Parking is available behind the block. Highly recommended! 👍👍

Need idea for dinner? Wanna get Roasted duck but too expensive($35-50)? Come to Yan Chuan for a no frill roasted duck. At 18 dollar for a WHOLE roasted duck. Whereby at a normal roasted meat store, you be paying 6-8 dollar for a roasted duck leg rice. For 18 dollar you be getting a WHOLE roasted duck to yourself with savory sauce and chili. Roasted meat and char siew are going for $24 per KG. The duck was still warm to the touch when I buy, it might not be the best tasting duck but at 18 dollar. You could easily feed a family of 3-4 with it and some rice cooked at home. Roasted meat was tender and juicy. The skin was crispy still!

Ordered their roast pig for my CNY team gathering for CNY. This price is super reasonable as compared to many other places. I’ve seen before my relative order a roast pig from a restaurant, taste about the same and paid more than twice the price. As I needed them to deliver the roast pig to me, there was a delivery charge of $20 if I don’t remember wrongly. Still a very good price. I did buy their roast duck before when I was there physically and I remember the taste was nice but not super amazing. But the price made up for it. Generally this is a value for money place and I would definitely order their roast pig again.
