U NÁS NA LIPTOVE — Restaurant in Ružomberok

I visited this restaurant twice while staying at the hotel next door.

The staff is not very well trained and behaves in a somewhat unpredictable way. One moment they're friendly, the next they're rude. For example, we arrived at 19.00 expecting to have dinner before the restaurant "closed" at 20.00, as we had been told by the hotel's receptionist. Instead, the waiter, in a rather rude tone and interrupting us several times, informed us that the restaurant actually opens at 20.00.

For our first dinner there, we had halušky and pork knee. The food was tasty, and the portions were generous, but it was served lukewarm.

The real lowlight, however, was the special New Year's dinner we had booked in advance. They charged us 65 euros per person (drinks not included), so we were expecting something amazing. Instead, we got what looked like a sad buffet of freezer-to-fryer dishes. Deep-fried fish, schnitzel, forgettable soups, and a sparse salad bar. A couple hours after dinner there was also a cold buffet, consisting of cold cuts, cheese, bread, and a few other things. Nothing remotely sophisticated or worth the hefty price tag (not even dessert!). For context, a regular dinner for two in that region usually costs about 20-25 euros per person. This felt like a scam, plain and simple.

I ordered a gin & tonic at the New Year's party and was served a room-temperature concoction with no ice. When I asked for ice, I was told there wasn't any (what kind of restaurant doesn't have ice?). The waiter didn't even bother apologising and instead acted like I was the unreasonable one. If you're going to serve cocktails this way, at least warn the customer first.

The place itself is clean and tidy, but the atmosphere is pretty forgettable, nothing to write home about.

I wonder if all of this chaos was due to the regular staff being off for the holidays. Based on other Google reviews, it seems like this place has potential, but my experience didn't reflect...

Vyhorený čašník - mladý, arogantný. Všade vylepené fotky šéf kuchárov, ale po výkonoch, ktoré predviedli v tejto reštaurácii by som ich radšej odlepila. Kačka za necelú 20ku z mľandravou kožou so studeným akože “demi glace” ktoré malo ďaleko od demi. K tataráku sme si vypýtali hrianky navyše, nasledovalo prevrátenie očí a doplatok 11€ (za 6ks hrianok - poliek chleba) - skoro nám oči vypadli. Niektoré jedlá ani neodniesol - zabudol. V reštike sa umývala podlaha asi minulú sezónu. Prevracanie očí a arogancia čašníka nemala obdobu. To sa nevidí tak často! Hlavne v reštauráciách kde sa snažia robiť vysokú gastronómiu. Boli sme ubytovaní hneď veľa takže raňajky nám boli odporučené u nich. Ak ste vegetarián máte alergiu na mlieko alebo nedaj Boh celiakiu - máte smolu. Jedna veľká bieda čo sa týka výberu a spracovania a bohužiaľ čašník rovnaký. Stále niečo chýbalo a museli sme si pýtať, lyžičky, cukor, maslo, servítky. Suma sumárum …cena za jedlo a služby neadekvátna a to sme za jedlo ochotní platiť aj oveľa viac. Čašník by mal zmeniť job. A ak si dá niekto fotku, že aha tu varím ja - tak nech sa nemusí hanbiť. Perlička na záver raňajky do 10:00 dopíjame kávu je asi 10:05 …8 detí s nami a chlap si ide otvoriť dvere dokorán a vetrať v -5 …lebo musí mať “spratané” , po upozornení arogantný, vyškieral sa, ironický. Obchádzajte oblúkom, ale manželovi chutila kulajda - tak ak by ste prekusli čašníka a to, že chleba dostanete o 10min neskôr aj to si musíte vypýtať tak skúste. Recenzie s 5* a fotkami ku ním presne ukazujú len to, že si píšu recenzie 😂 pridávam len jednu foto, škoda, že som nefotila účelovo a aj bločky a že čašník dostal aj tringelt, nezaslúžil si 😡 odporúčam mu nech začne cestovať a trošku uvidí ako to funguje inde a aj...

Came for breakfast. Empty place. Both waitresses behind the bar rolled their eyes cause we came 10 mins before 10:00am that is when they stop “serving” breakfast. It is a self service buffet. They move no finger. They asked for permission from the person in charge to allow us to buy, he looked bothered too but he said Ok. The whole situation already uncomfortable. Breakfast is nothing special but the service makes it even worse. In general we dont expect much from slovak service cause is usually below average in the country but this treatment was the worse we have ever...
