Gostilna Kurej — Restaurant in Bled

The place was crowded, but that's not a problem. Expect for when the crew can't handle that kind of crowd.

When we entered the place, we got a really chaotic welcome. They directed us to a table outside, but we had to finish between the hour otherwise they would move us to a table inside ( we told them we would be happy to sit inside but for some reason that didnt land ).

When we ordered food everything had to be in 5th gear. Quick Quick Quick. The lady almost threw the food and drinks at the table when it was ready.

After we finished the food, no questions for food or what so ever. Very unfriendly feeling. Nevertheless the food was amazing. If the crew would be a bit more happy to see a lot of clients you have one of the best places to visit in Bled. But for now, 5 stars for the food, 1 for the service. Makes it a 3 total.

The people working tonight were amazing, hardworking folks. Regarding the food, it was mostly just meat and potatoes was very limited vegetables and way too much meat. I would recommend a single serving of the fried chicken for two people and if you plan on getting the Kranj platter for two, it would truly serve four people but I would order a side of vegetables or some other type of fresh plant to balance out the rest of the meal. As is typical for most places we have been in Slovenia, there was no air conditioning and it happened to be an unusually hot day. There was limited outdoor seating because the place was busy so we say inside. I'm sure being hot and sweaty affected our overall impression of the food. We spent nearly 100 Euros on this meal when we could have gotten by with 50 if we had known the portion...

The place was recommended by the owners of the apartment we stayed in. It's a small but quite busy local restaurant in Zasip, very friendly staff speaking good English. The menu is quite large and offers interesting local meals with a list of allergens in each meal, very useful for us as we both eat gluten-free. We came here twice, food was really delicious and portions quite big to feed two people :) We were recommended a lovely white wine - Holojan, which we liked so much that we went to shop and bought a bottle for home. Grilled cheese and mixed grill meat were very delicious served with lots of grilled veggies and salad.
