I was recommended this res by a friend who came here after when the restaurant was under previous owner. Unfortunately ( I was) left disappointed.
I was also having high standards due to high prices.
The waiter was not able to recommend us what is fresh or good on the menu. And the "English" menu was a bad copy paste from google translate which needs fixing as half of meals make no sense. When asked for portion sizes of risottos the waiter said you could eat 3 portions before being full and following his recommendation we went with risotto and the main. Positively surprised by the presentations but not with the massive size of the portion. I had octopus risotto which I highly recommend but not steak risotto my partner has as it was undercooked and watery. Scallops were ok but butter over dominated the flavour and they were not properly washed so we had few sand particles still in the scallops.
Main meal was just disappointing. My partner had octopus which was tender but so lacking the flavour and the rest of the place did not do much to lift the flavour palette up. The same for my meal - I had tuna steak. Even though the meat itself was of high quality, it lacked seasoning and flavour I had to return it as it was undercooked. When redone, it still was not done well and at this point we gave up and asked for a bill. Patties we tried one and also gave up as it tastes like a bad defrosted type. If you want to be a good modern restaurant you have to learn how to combine flavours on the plate with the right atmosphere so to create an ambient and taste people want to come back to. Sadly you are on my no...
Read morea slightly offbeat location, with open views of a valley and a simple but elegantly designed restaurant. has a warm and welcome vibe, with the young staff making you feel comfortable
the menu offers a good blend of the sea and land, with plenty of options across starters and main course. we had three plates of starters - raw shrimp (sweet and paired well with the aioli) + beef tartare (hint of spice and just rightly seasoned) + dry-aged yellow tail fish sashimi with truffle (interesting, especially with the tangy dressing)
for main course, we had the ribeye + sirloin steaks with a side of truffle mash and veggies -- steaks were very well cooked, and the sides complemented it well
service was polite, informative, not too overwhelming
overall, a rather good experience of well-prepared dishes that ticked off the right boxes without pretensions, which goes a long way. will need to try their wines next time as they seem to have a good selection of bottles
€150 for 3 starters + 2...
