Kitajski vrt — Restaurant in Upravna Enota Ljubljana

I first went to this restaurantover 20 years ago when there were only a few in Slovenia. There’s a group of us coming here for every birthday or celebration, at least once a month. I remember teaching one of their managers how to drive an automatic years ago when we had some projects together. Even after a lot of other restaurants opened, this one was the top for years and it was also very reasonably priced + had the BEST flavors. Last year, they changed the portion size, I notice that after a few visits. Ok, at least they were good and cheap. Then this year they raised the prices by almost 20 %. That would be ok if the taste didn’t change. But it did, a lot. There are only two orders I get here so after years, I noticed the difference immediately. Of course, you can’t expect the same everytime, but the quality has dropped significantly over the last few months. I also order a lot of take-out, but now they started to charge for the rice as well. And the PLASTIC BAG where food is packed! Nobody cares I didn’t ask for it or that they don’t have a price list online where you could see they charge for the rice and bags starting this year. when you mention this, they don’t understand (or don’t want to) and just smile and not care. My visit today was my last here and our group will not be coming here anymore (some friends mentioned the issues before but I didn’t believe that my favorite place would change like that). The waitresses lacked facial expressions, and every time a new person approached our table (a total of 5 different people), there was no warm greeting or even a simple "hello" or "good afternoon." The first waitress brought the menu but showed no enthusiasm. The second one took our order but only nodded her head without saying anything. The last person was an Indian fellow who didn't understand Slovenian.

The hot and sour soup had no flavor, while the Mongolian beef was somewhat decent. The chow suey chicken was also bland, lacking taste. Additionally, the rice portion served was very small.

Overall, the dining experience left much to be desired, as the service and food quality were disappointing.

In addition to the previous points, the prices at the restaurant were reasonable. However, the cleanliness of the table was a major concern. There was bird droppings on our table, and it was dried and hardened, indicating that it had been there for a while. It was evident that the staff did not clean the tables after every customer, which was quite off-putting and unsanitary.

Would not recommend! Food was really disappointing. We ordered ‘Zlatne mesne blazinice’ which is the only thing that we liked which set the standard..With that we got ‘Polnjeni žlikrofi(svinjina,rakci,krop)’, it was not good, instead of getting the shrimp which is stated, we got Surimi inside. For main dishes we ordered ‘Pražen riž z rakci’ which anyone could make at home. Plain, cooked rice with little pieces of carrot, peas and three prawns. With that, ‘Hrustljiva raca’-the main disappointment. The duck was chopped to pieces, only edible ones were like five of them, the rest was over fried, dry, non consumable. We stated our dissatisfaction to one of the waiters, showed them the plate and all that we left. Got nothing in return, we had to pay for the duck we did ‘not get’.
