We were recommended this restaurant by the owner of our Guest House.
On Day 1 of our holiday we took his advice and asked for a table. The restaurant was empty, but we were told abruptly: “No, reservation only”. It was 6.30. They wouldn’t even squeeze us in before their later reservations.
Despite the rude tone of the two waiters we took the advice of our host and on Day 2 of our holiday sent an email trying to reserve a table. We are still waiting for a reply.
On Day 3 we tried again. This time by phone. We were surprised to be laughed at by the gentleman on the end of the phone saying: “No, not tonight” before putting the phone down.
We can’t feedback on the quality of the food, but we can feedback to say with certainty that any dining experience provided by such rude staff would be substandard and would not be worth the plate it was served on. An enjoyable dining experience is enhanced by polite, friendly and welcoming staff. Something this...
Read moreYears ago came here by chance, then we started visiting the place once every time we spent a few days on the coast nearby, which unfortunately is not very often. There was a dip in the quality for a time, but then the service started to rise up to the levels before the dip. So: Nice and peaceful place, fantastic food, great staff, things to do in the surroundings before and after you had your lunch. The prices are of course everyones' opinion, at least we can say they are reasonable if you want to visit one good restaurant during your weekend holidays. Definitely come here by foot, preferably through outdoor art gallery Forma Viva. If you are the kind of person, visit a cactus garden nearby, i'm not so i can't' talk about it. Then take a walk on a beach to the west, it's usually a quite nice very different from the one in center of Portorož, but don't expect some facilities except...
Read moreAll over Slovenian coast is notorious for BAD restaurants and food, simply because they think if you have 1 million tourists you can get away with everything and still have a full restaurant. The more famous a restaurant is, the worse it gets. So this is the most famous one on Slovenian Coast, but also with the most incompetent and arogant waiters. Nowhere in Europe was I ever given, not even in the cheapest wino bars, a drink that I ordered, in a tin can! Furthermore, when you order a fish plate for two, you get 3 tiny fish of one kind, 1 kind of another, but that is merely 20% of the dish you ordered. The rest is half a kilo of cooked chard and half a kilo of cooked potatoes. When you look at it, they sell cooked chard & potatoes for nasty prices with some fish toppings. And drinks...
