TL;DR - the worst experience ever, do not stop there!

Ok, to start off first, the food wasn't entirely bad. We were there once before, and that time the service was average; however this last time, literally last time, we were grossly dissatisfied with this particular waiter who didn't even speak the local language. The guy constantly rolled his eyes with whatever we had in mind to order. He was even too forward with my partner in the beginning of our 'pleasant' experience. There was no greeting, when we sat down we waited for half an hour to get asked only for drinks first and another 15 min to get them and only then were we able to order the food. The biggest mistake was not leaving right away when left waiting for such a long time. Secondly, we hadn't received what we ordered which we told the waiter (huge eyeroll right there), we said it was fine, just male sure to change the order on the bill as what we got was 20% cheaper than what we ordered. He said he'd do it. No apologies for the mix up or anything of course, just the very 'discreet' eyeroll. We finally got the food, which to be honest would have tasted much better had we received a better service. In the meantime nobody came to ask about our satisfaction or any further needs (you know such as: "more wine sir/madam?"). Another half an hour had passed after we finished the food, and asked for a bill a couple of times. The waiter eventually shows up and tells us in a half local half foreign language that our table was number such and such and we need to go to the bar and pay up there. Ok fine, had we known this earlier, we wouldn't have spent so much time there waiting for eternity. Finally we go to the bar with our table number to pay, and at the same moment who ever was in charge for billing customers had to be somewhere else so guess who shows up afterwards - yep, THE waiter. The guy made a final epic eyeroll and handed out the bill he had specially prepared for us. Luckily I checked the bill out before handing him any money, and will ya look at that: there was the old order that he had confirmed he'd change it, and extra drinks we never ordered nor got. The bill was around 25% higher than what it should be. I argued with him and I wouldn't let go, finally he deducted it and charged us the correct amount. Porzioni abbondanti, carne ed anche pesce. Si mangia bene ed i prezzi sono ottimi. Non è un locale caro. Personale disponibile e cortese, non tutti parlano italiano, ma non è un problema anche perché il menu è scritto in più lingue compresa l'italiano. Non hanno ne' bancomat, ne' carte di credito, si paga in contanti. Sono accettati i cani a cui viene servita un grande ciotola d' acqua!

" La Seconda Volta ! " Domenica 9 giugno 2019 ore 19.30 circa, RETTIFICA alla recensione fatta sopra:

La seconda volta che io e mia moglie ci siamo recati insieme ai nostri cani in questo locale era il giorno successivo, domenica sera verso le 19.30 . Ahimè purtroppo qualcosa è cambiato, intanto chiedendo di stare all'interno del locale ci hanno messo in un angolo squallido della sala. Per intenderci isolati e faccia al muro, dove vi erano delle casse accatastate ai lati . Considerate che in quel momento la sala era vuota e non c'erano persone . Ci hanno mandato l' unico cameriere che parlava italiano, probabilmente di Trieste, che faceva strane espressioni facciali alla vista dei nostri cani che erano sotto il tavolo e non lo guardavano neppure. Avesse detto almeno di aver paura, ma non si capiva se ne aveva paura o era un modo per essere interessante/ simpatico con i clienti. Ci ha servito i piatti di portata e le birre a distanza, quasi cadevano tanto erano pesanti . Mai visto e vissuto una situazione del genere . Eppure sull'entrata del locale c'è un bel cartello che indica che i cani sono ammessi. Per essere più sicuri abbiamo domandato e ci è stato detto che potevano entrare senza alcun problema . Osservando gli altri tavoli serviti all'esterno dallo stesso cameriere, questi numeri non sono stati fatti per gli altri clienti, allora mi domando perchè non farsi sostituire da un collega se sei a disagio ? Se il problema fosse la lingua italiana per gli altri camerieri, si poteva parlare un'altra lingua, l'inglese od il tedesco, visto che io e mia moglie le parliamo ! Bastava chiedere ed attendere la risposta ! Nota importante, il menù non è scritto solo in sloveno ed italiano, bensì in inglese . Non ci saremo offesi se ci fosse stato chiesto . Altra nota dolente è stato in che modo è stato servito e preparato il pane fatto da loro sul carbone, quando il giorno prima era stato servito caldo ed era buonissimo, ma non questa volta, anzì era bagnato/ umido, come se qualcosa di bagnato fosse stato appoggiato sopra, preparato e servito in modo sciatto . Anche i piatti ordinati a base di carne non erano gli stessi del giorno prima, come cottura e qualità cambiata in peggio, anche se erano sempre abbondanti, serviti senza la cura che il giorno prima era stata data. Per intenderci un' intero piatto di cipolle tagliate con sopra le patatine fritte non ben cotte e la carne messa sopra, sembrava un panino a strati e per fortuna che l'ajvar er stato richiesto a parte ! L'idea che mi sono fatto è che durante la settimana fino al sabato all'ora di pranzo, il servizio è buono, anche perchè essendo un locale frequentato prevalentemente da camionisti, altro non potrebbe fare . Si sà che dove si fermano i camion si mangia bene . Ma cambia la sua qualità e modalità quando entra nel week end, soprattutto la sera . Eppure questo locale ha avuto anche un'ottima pubblicità da parte del programma televisivo della Nove "Camionisti in Trattoria ", condotto da Chef Rubio . Mi viene da pensare che davanti alle telecamere è una cosa e quando se nè vanno è un'altra ? Comunque peccato perchè a differenza di sabato in cui ero uscito soddisfatto dal locale, mi sono dovuto ricredere la seconda volta, eppure non è passato tanto tempo, solo un giorno . Posso dire che è stata anche questa un'esperienza, da non ripetere, sarebbe diabolico farlo la terza volta, oltre ad essere recidivi...

After exploring the underground caves my family and I were looking for a delicious typical meal. Restaurants we found on the internet didn’t seem promising so we drove aimlessly and starving hoping to find a gem along the countryside. To our surprise we stumbled upon Na Burji and quickly were enticed. We were greeted with the sweetest and friendliest man who sat us immediately. The service was impeccable and this man was the highlight of our day. He was extremely funny, charismatic, and generous. We all ordered a variety of dishes but I wish to highlight the hamburgers and greek salad. The greek salad was incredibly fresh and delicious. The burger was the best I’ve ever had. It melted in your mouth if you will. With flavors of onion, ketchup, mustard, and melty cheese. My family and I cannot recommend this joint enough and are looking for any excuse to come back. A must go when visiting Slovenia....
