Fenomenal service and great food. When we got there, we had ample room to park, despite realitvely busy restaurant. There might be some issues with parking if you go in at peak hours, but resturant also has a small pebble covered parking zone that could easily fit a few cars extra.
When we entered the restaurant, there was a slight queue at the entrance. The waiter asked us if we had a reservation, which we didn’t have, but he managed to somehow squeeze us anyway (props to our waiter!).
We got two pizzas, a tomato soup, a CocaCola, a cappuccino, and a beer. The tomato soup was a little on the sour side, but otherwise great; the pizzas were top notch though! The beer is their own custom house beer Kotar. It is really smooth, and very drinkable. I highly recommend trying it out if you have the chance, I loved it. And last, but certainly not least; the cappuccino was also great. Really no complaints here. Read moreI've been here twice so far, and my experience only got better. Both times we didn't have a reservation and we were muddy from hiking, but the waiter made an effort to get us seated. Both times we assumed it would be closed since it was the 25th of December and 1st of January. Against all odds, Tonca was open both times.
The food was amazing, some of the best steak I have ever eaten, the pizza was great as well (tried some my wife ordered). The dessert was nothing to write home about, but only in relation to the main courses. Compared to other restaurants offerings, it was amazing. The menu lists only 1 "daily dessert", but ask the waiter, they have at least a choice of 6 at any point.
As mentioned, the serving staff are great and I just can't overstate how good the atmosphere is because of their friendliness and the interior decor.

This was the fresh seafood experience I had been looking for on my trip so this restaurant left my Slovenian trip on a high note. All their dishes had a nice balance in the recipes as well as uniqueness — I had their seafood platter on black corn mash (Must have)
The wait staff is also top notch. Taking the time to present and educate us about their produce. They served us homemade bread and two high quality olive oils from a local Slovenian farm.
From start to finish this place excelled in experience, taste, visual plating and service 🙂
The only atmospheric suggestion I would have is if they fenced off the patio as the restaurant is beside an active road. It would be nice to be enclosed from all the car...
