Very disappointed with our service tonight. We specifically came to this restaurant because we wanted to eat somewhere that was 'above' the average restaurant. It was a special family occasion.
Bathroom on the right is disgusting. The floor inside is wet and there is a heavy stench of urine - I hope the only wetness on the floor was just water...
Menu is heavily overpriced for the quality of food received. I almost reeled when I saw the prices - but I thought, good quality food will be priced accordingly. I ordered a chicken burger - specifically the fried chicken burger. Burger bun was slightly burned on the top, chicken wasn't crispy as advertised - instead it was a sad piece of oily chicken. Both buns were lathered in mayonnaise. On the menu, they add adjectives to make the food sound wonderful - 'creamy mayo' with your burger. The reality? I got a less than average chicken burger with too much supermarket mayonnaise. Super greasy chips as well R135.00 for that?
Right before everyone's meals arrived, they let us know that they didn't have what we ordered in stock. (Halloumi). The vegetarian at the table only got to eat a salad. A salad without lettuce, let me add.
I am concerned about the hygiene of the staff preparing the food. I sat close to the kitchen and watched them prepare the food. By the pizza station, I watched as staff put toppings onto pizzas without gloves. I watched another staff member eat something and chew with an open mouth. I even saw into the kitchen - and also watched staff use their hands to pick things up and throw it into pans. Can you confidently tell me that their hands are 100% clean and sanitary every second of their food preparation?
All in all, the restaurant atmosphere and decor gives off the impression that this is a quality establishment with very high standards relating to service and food. Seeing how the food is prepared makes one realize that the fancy menu and atmosphere is just a facade - the kitchen and their food preparation is amateur and incredibly basic. Maybe this is fine for other customers, but for the customer who was expecting a high quality meal (and who paid the price for one) this restaurant will be the least of my recommendations to my business associates. Sure, you've got a good variety of alcohol - but if you're going to boast a great menu, at least make sure you can deliver what you promise.
*Edit to owner's response: What freebies would I want? 😂 I was literally there with my family that day, and we paid over 2k for everything. With tip.
So, you've used a timeline to 'debunk' me? You've come to the conclusion I must be a terrible person who wants "freebies", going around Bloem saying mean things?
In the time it must have taken you to copy that information and paste it in your response, you could have taken a moment and possibly reflected if what I said was true. I'm a owner as well - criticism is difficult. However, how do we grow if we don't accept or even consider feedback? Always consider the possibility that a negative review isn't necessarily from an imbecile or scammer, and that their experience is real from their perspective. Sometimes it's an opportunity for growth.
And the other reviews? We're allowed as people to speak up if our expectations of an establishment did not meet that value of what we paid, or our impression of what we thought we would receive (menu). It is natural to have a certain expectation or standard when charged premium pricing. And other times, there are just things that don't fall into the norm (food poisoning, dirty establishment) that a customer is also allowed to report.
Take it with a pinch of salt Owner...if you're place is great, then just disregard my review then....
Read moreMaybe Johnny Not so lucky? We popped in today for a quick lunch, asking the server if it would be OK to rush our food as I had an appointment. Yes, sure, we can do that.... Well. After getting drinks, we did not see our server again. After 30 mins, we had to ask another server for another round of drinks, and another request that we need to get our food ASAP, as we have to go. So, we waited some more. After another 20 mins, we had to ask yet another server to check again on the food... and again, it's nearly done. So in the end, we asked if the food can be boxed, we will take it to go, as we really had to go. And yet, another 20 mins to get that... maybe if the servers are less focused on getting the pretty cocktails (and food) to 4 tables (that arrived after we did), it might have been a success.... The food we received and opened 5 mins later at home was stone cold, and overcooked. So no. Not so...
Read moreHonestly everything is good but my girlfriend and my self had dinner there last night and I put basil pesto on my pizza. I am unfortunately allergic to peanuts and their basil pesto contained peanuts. Had to rush to hospital after 3 slices. Woolworths doesn't put peanuts in their basil pesto so I just assumed this one will also be fine. So I guess it is a 2 way street but I think they should change the menu to state that the pesto contains peanuts specifically. Nut allergies are generally pretty serious and most cases will lead to hospitalisation.
Will definitely go back just no basil...
