Zaika Tandoor North Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Belthorn Estate

Seems like I'm the 1st to post here in a while..

Let's be mindful feedback is a gift and I have a very distant but fond memory of eating at this place when they were based in Kromboom Road still so I thought.. or believed rather it will be worth the nearly R400 I'm about to spend.

Wasn't told about the special and felt as if though we weren't going to get it and the owner luckily walked in and said we could get it.

Thinking because we ordered telephonically the order should be ready, we ended having to wait 15more minutes as we were told for the order considering there was another item added as part of the special.

We walked around and 30mins went by for us to be told they're busy wrapping the Gatsbys.. 10more minutes went by after they were " wrapping" the gatbys until our order finally came out.. nearly 40mins additional wait time..

Saddest part was the chicken on the gatsbys were dry as well as the naan appeared not to be as fresh..

The zaika fully loaded fries was cold...

Upon leaving I asked the cashier "what happened to 15mins?".. was told the kitchen was busy...

Really?

We were your only customers who walked in within that hour...

Somethings gotta change... Poor service.. Cold and possibly not so fresh food...

I'm sure better can be done...

May Allah make it easy.. I'd like to order again cz it's "not that bad".. but in a while when I see better review...

I used to love this place, however recently the recipe has changed drastically and im not sure if its because of their attempt at expansion and less oversight over the recipes and handling. I recently ordered the butter-chicken, something my family and I adore, however from the very first mouthful it was nauseatingly apparent how sweet the flavoring was, it tasted like pure honey/sugar, the consistency of the butter-chicken was much runnier than it used to be as well as the flavoring was much weaker and less spicy. Additionally the lamb rogan josh, another Zaika favorite while it was relatively decent, it too lacked its usual kick/ spiciness. I love recommending Zaikas to people , however recently after a few people tried it on my recommendation they too were disappointed and I am now weary of recommending or even ordering again. I hope these issues are resolvable, because as i mentioned before, i absolutely love...

spent over R700 rand for a fish, lamb and butter chicken curry. It all had the same sauce . I could not tell which was which and it all tasted the same. My full house steak was strips of steak drowning in a salty sauce that made the sandwich soggy and the sandwich was not toasted properly. You could still see the butter on the outside of the bread. The tandoori kebab had no taste of tandoori. It was as if the chicken was brushed with food colouring. Everyone in the office agreed that we will never order from them again. I am so disappointed and disgusted that this type of food would even be served to paying customers. People who have no pride in what they serve should look for another job and stop taking hard earned money for...
