Tashreeqa's Restaurant — Restaurant in Crawford

Went there with my husband and two kids on Monday 29 January 2018 late morning. Entered the restaurant and noticed that the place wasn't that full. We found a place to sit without any help from the waiters. No one aknowledged us. Eventually we got our menus and decided what we going to order. The waiter (slender african woman with a thin face) never came to take our order. When we eventually got her attention after 15 minutes of trying, she looked surprised and asked if nobody took our order yet. ? Anyway, we ordered a savoury pancake, large hot chips and a mango juice. She asked us if she can bring the juice now or with the food and we said with the food. She still brought the mango juice and then only a long time afterwards did she bring the pancake. We wanted to eat and share the pancakes and hot chips between us. We started eating and waited for the hot chips which was not coming. Again we tried to get the waitress attention. She eventually saw us and walked in our direction, but stopped at the table of other people who came in after us and spoke to them. Then when she was done with them she took a cloth and wiped down the table next to them. Only then did she come over to us. My husband asked her how long the hot chips are going to be and she looked confused a bit. She asked if we ordered a hot chips? The small one? And we had to remind her that is a large one. She said she will go check in the kitchen. She came back eventually with our hot chips. When it came, the pancake was finished already and we so much wanted to eat it all together. We also considered ordering another drink, but decided to leave it because it was so difficult to get her attention for anything. There was a time when she was standing on the side of the bar counter just staring into space. I am originally from the area, but will never consider going back to Tashreeqa's again after...

First and foremost it was Loadshedding so we were looking for a place to have coffee at. When we arrived at the entrance, we stood there for +/- 10 mins before anyone including the owner, even noticed us. We asked one of the waiters for a table but she had such a bad attitude….she just said there’s no tables available. Soon after a couple left so we sat down. We had to constantly try to get the waiters’ attention so we could order only to find out certain coffees weren’t going to be served. We then decided to have a meal which would carry us through to 10pm when the lights go back On again. Our food came but the calamari was nice and soft but the crumbed batter didn’t stick to the calamari. After our meal we wanted to order our lattes and cappuccinos but no one tells us in the time we were having our meal that they no longer serving coffee etc. only to find out after we asked the waiter for cappuccinos, that the barrister had already closed off the coffee station. Not one of the waiters came to check if everything was ok, if we needed anything else etc. nothing like that. It’s like all of the waiters were just focused on certain areas in the restaurant. I must say that I was extremely disappointed with the service and attitude of the waiters because I’m not a petty and niggly person. I love supporting our local businesses but this is the kind of treatment you get. I feel that the waiters need to up their game and be more friendly and helpful but it seems like there’s a regular crowd of people who frequents your establishment so gets treated better than everyone else who pops in there once in a while. I don’t feel like I would want to visit your establishment again anytime soon as l was just totally disgruntled with your service.Also, please change your trading hours on your website because it shows you close @ 11.30pm...

Visited the restaurant this evening. The venue and decor is aesthetically pleasing, with shades of green and gold accessories. Unfortunately this is where the pleasant experience stops.

We ordered the saucy hot chips, mince salomies, crumbed tikka chicken, chicken and mushroom alfredo, baked chicken and mushroom pasta. The saucy chips were delicious, everything else was a let down. The pasta is tasteless. Dosing it with salt and pepper did make it any more palatable. The crumbed chicken was dry and over-fried, resembling fish rather than chicken fillets.

To add insult to injury, a gratuity of 10% was added because we were a table of five. Don't get more wrong, I have frequented many excellent food establishments with excellent waitstaff and feel obliged to leave a gratuity, but this was not the case at yours. The waiters, including ours, were too busy having a conversation to realise than someone at our table was literally waving at her. I feel it's quite presumptuous to add this gratuity considering the service was lacking. It's rewarding someone and allows them to get away with poor service because they'll get a good tip regardless of the service received.

This is the first time back to your restaurant after a very long period, I've always remembered the food and service to be amazing. I'm unsure what has changed. Sadly, I doubt that my family and i will frequent your...
